It's nothing to do with the postmen, it is all to do with poor management. No one is going to volunteer to do more work, consequently it is up to the manager/s to make sure that the hours worked are commensurate with the pay as per the agreement. If they fail to do that then why sound off at each other. The duties are as they are and are chosen by seniority so .......................you have to suck it up until it's your turn for the easy duty - by which time the management will have woken up or been woken up more likely.
Clash mentioned the once over the ground at Christmas for deliveries, plus in our office there was also 2 to 3 hours a day guaranteed as well as dropping the second delivery.........................those were the days, that was 18 hours a week and you generally finished 2 hours early. A much different regime exists now.
Mind you having said that there was never anything left in and everyone did their share.
