For me another week with no payslip sent or wages paid into my bank by Angard for the 51+hrs I worked on the night shift at Dorset Mail Centre the previous week. I rang Angard and Reed Recruitment on Friday afternon, the phones just keep ringing, no answer. Last night quite a few casuals turned up only to be turned away as they were not needed. Apparently Angard should of informed them but didn’t! Some said they were paid but not the correct amount. I complained to Royal Mail management that I stlll haven't had a payslip and the non payment. They seem at bit oblivious when it comes to the pay rates and don’t seem interested when you can refer them to your Hired Agreement. As I worked there last year I applied again through the Royal Mail website and I think The Jobcentres advised the same.

After security clearance my status changed to “Hired and Start Date Agreed” with my Employer clearly shown as “Angard Staffing” and all the shift pay rates listed.

Yes seems rates are regional not National. Angard seem to have changed the goalposts and adopted their own wage rates. Working nights Mon-Sat 22:00 -06:00 they are paying a person age 21+ just 50p above the UK National minimum wage which I thought I was the Basic rate (£6.25 last year + shift allowance + Sunday Premium) but it appears not and this is down £1.42 / hr on last year and £1.53 /hr less than the figure quoted above. For working the Sunday night shift this is also down £1.52 / hour on last year. As I never received a final contract from Angard I did not know what their pay rates were but I believe they didn’t state them on contracts of those that did. Basically you dn’t find out the rates of pay till you starting working and receive a pay slip! Comparing the figures on my RM website Hired Agreement I feel I have been deceived by Angard and this means a loss of earnings of several hundred pounds, if I ever receive it.
Angard need to be exposed.

Apparently the Reed office concerning itself with payroll for Angard is : 27a High street, Andover, Hants, SP10 1LJ. 01264 339428. I wouldn't bother with the telephone number - tried it and found it inoperable.

Can anyone quote what the rates were for the 2200-0600 shift at Hemel Hempstead sorting office, as advertised on the Royal Mail website? Went for it based on being circa £8 but told after two weeks working that its only £6.48. Went back to Royal Mail website only to find page has been removed. Not a happy teddy bear especially as yet to be paid.

It is still there for my mail centre. You need to log in and look at your application, click the Last Application:Christmas Casual - 'Your' Mail Centre. Then you should get the details of the mail centre, the type of work, pay rates, etc.

The casual workforce have less rights under Employment Laws, That is why they use casuals because they can keep pulling their strings and do as they like.
The ERA 1996 EMPLOYMENT LAW does not apply to casuals they apply to a contracted employee, A casual has what they call workers rights so for example the working time directive apply's to you but any legislation which imply employee then those parts of employment law do not apply.
When you talk about pay rights and equal pay then that depends on your employer which is not Royal Mail it is Angard, so if you are working next to a Manpower person and they get payed more it just means their pay is better.
Hope this gives you an insight into the mine field of law i know it does not help your situation and i do feel for you.

have a look at the employment act of 2008, that might make you reconsider

The employment act 2008 talks about minimum wage which apply s to all workers that includes casuals,if you are talking employment law how does the 2008 act change anything that i said before? If you are talking about dispute resolution about pay you would still have to go to ANGARD not Royal Mail and the Act talks about workers which apply's to agency staff but if you are applying EMPLOYEE which as an agency worker you are not an employee of Royal Mail you are a worker.I am sure that if you would like to point to specifics i am sure i can read on and pull some more info from the 2008,ERA 1996 just shout up.

Mine too was 8,48,,changed to 6.58 when started- Hatfield, assume is same district as Hemel
