There's no point streaming, really. You usually only need to stream when the mail is heavy and that generally means a lot of houses will be receiving first-class or dated post. Going to a house with one letter is the same as going with five letters, three magazines and two packets. You'll save a bit of time but as I said earlier, you lose that time fiddling around trying to grab the first-class and dated in amongst all the garbage.

Whats people thoughts on this?? Told in our office to do this, this week. To me this is totally wrong, this is having total disregard for customers mail just to forfill the USO. What you reckon?? but put in a disagreement anyway

I think I was uber-streaming today. Had a skeletal chuck out then was told to bundle up. I guess they knew I'd cut-off otherwise, but it's not fair on the walk-holder who will come back from leave on Monday to find a collection of packet bags, some of today's mail, all of today's missorts, as well as whatever comes in on Monday. Plus a load of d2ds that haven't been touched. But then, there are a ton of walks where the d2ds are untouched at the moment. I bet there are some where the mail hasn't been touched! This isn't all that relevant to streaming, I suppose, but it is one of the things that leads to such desperate measures as streaming.

Just to remind everyone reading the thread especially reps....

Dear Colleagues,

During the recent ADR briefings the subject of ‘Streaming or Skimming’ of mail was raised by a number of reps and subsequently raised by me at the NDG. Royal Mail’s response was that they were unaware of it and it was only anecdotal, they needed firmer ‘evidence’. Therefore could reps please supply the dept via email with any instances where this has occurred or is occurring, naming the office and the manager of the office and how frequently this has occurred, and how the streaming actually occurs. In some cases the decision of what not to deliver has been left to OPGs which in itself is unacceptable. In other instances it forms part of absorption/lapsing where an OPG is taken off a delivery to allow others to absorb the delivery by only delivering the 1c and leaving everything else in the frame.
Your urgent attention and response to this request would be greatly appreciated.

We were asked to stream at the start of the week, told DOM streaming does not work, so we've agreed that if you can't complete, then before you band up, you see your line manager and agree what you can deliver, you then leave the rest in the frame, whereby they will try and get it covered and if not then you start from there tomorrow and the whole thing starts all over again.
