Private cars are not used yes members come in early dont take break but that does not account for the time made so logic. Not even a few extra trips back to the box if pouches were overweight and then broken down would fill out the time.

Before SDD we were allocated work to do either sorting or delivery of oversized packets to keep us going although this was in place of a 2nd delivery as there was no time to sort up and deliver 2nd del mail upon return from 1st del.

I honestly could not believe the times some people finished in other offices - 1 before anyone in my office even started delivering

Well it's pretty obvious that terms and condition seem to vary depending on your area TBT.
The problem comes when decisions are made based on opinions gathered from too narrow an experience. :hmmmm

Ditto,But sure time will come when a Dom who wants to climb the greasy pole will arrive and use the attendance sheets as cart blanche to cut hours and then reality will really kick in for some.

Reality will arrive with the non sequenced mail revsion at some point before the end of the current finacial year. Weve got two retirements at the end of the year, so thats 80 hours that may well not get replaced. No set span now, so it may be a case of setting pegasus at 4hrs (currently at 3.15 :nervous)

We do have a serious lack of IPS mail as most of the letters are walksorted so a very high percentage of IPS is flats and packets. I have a mbr who thinks we should sabotage the machines :Applause :Applause :Applause

New estate going up six to the dozen untill it reaches 1250 DP's so some savings will go to that. Another 600+ going up in a village on the site of a old paper mill , current village has 3 FT duties who may be able to asorb some of that growth but not all so these 3 duties will not be able to assist with savings.

The newest of the complete estates we do is about to get another 200 houses, a bit of land didnt get built on but now planning permission has been granted, so its a case of seeing how much if any can be absorbed into the current duty, again that duty will not be able to assist with savings due to growth.

Who has the narrowest experience someone who works in one unit or someone who visit hundreds and visit both branch meetings where local reps are there, agms where members are there and divisional meetings where area reps are there?

It's a completely irrelevent arguement as the "someone who works in one unit" does not make decisions that effect the majority of the staff in ALL areas.
The point of the statement was that someone who only has a narrow experience of one area is not best placed to make decisions that effect everyone when terms and conditions obviously vary from area to area.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Actually, he has a very good point. You both do. Allow me to explain:
Area Reps see what happens throughout their area, and therefore have a VERY wide experience of what happens. However: we and our Local Reps see the day to day realities in their particular unit. So we have a wider experience of the day to day effects of agreements in our unit. :hmmmm

It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?
