For to many years to many have chased time out of the job coming in early , working their meal reliefs and driving their cars and have undermined other members who dont and i have represented many a rest day cover or reserve who cant complete a delivery because the regular bloke has come in beofre their time and drove his car on delivery.

I use my car. I come in 10 mins early everyday.I don't work my day off. I don't take my relief. Do you want to know why? Are you interested?

I have family issues (medical) which I'd rather not have. I do the above to get finished on my time, not overtime, because the last thing I want is to be waiting every hour for a bus to pass to take me home, when a car will get me home much quicker.

I have nothing to hide. I use my car, I do my delivery. I get on well with my fellow staff, most of whom don't use their cars. Sometimes you have to rise above the pettiness you are displaying and realise people, perhaps not like youreslf, have pressing issues outside of work - YET STILL HAVE TO WORK - and a f*king car on delivery is least of my (and I guess) others concerns.

Brilliant example of why I will vote yes. If people cannot be trusted to make themselves work right, then maybe they need to be forced to?

Suffice to say, like the thousands on here who will "apparently" vote no, I shall certainly vote no.
You come on the forum with an opinion, just like me, if you dont like negative opinions ,DONT POST.......! :nana :nana :nana

That's telling 'em banner - nothing like a pay cut to focus everyone's mind on not to use cars.

Kind Of Agree
I think you kind of missed the point.
The main reason the union wanted to ban the use of PCOD was to protect the jobs of those who were supposed to be taking them and their bags out.
Those jobs will now disappear under the new delivery methods anyway. :hmmmm
There is nothing else in this agreement that will "force people to work right".

This is going to be a thorny issue without a doubt.

We don't employ agency staff in the North but will agency people be allowed to use their own vehicles? I mean are they checked now? Are all H&S issues complied with? Will they be used as a second string in park and loop, will they be cleared to drive RM vehicles?

Are any of these issues covered in the agreement? Either the 80 page A4 or the 4 page A5 version.

Bit more to it than that I think. For starters, everyone will be expected to pouch off and sign out back at their office after delivery methods revision.
Pcod just allow people to work to their own agenda screwing up the job for others. The work will become standardised under delivery methods, hopefully allowing people to have a manageable workload and to work their time. Building breaks into the day will also be required. It will baffle me if RM don't have people taking their breaks after delivery methods. They pay us for them, but aren't getting any of the proven advantages such as increased productivity and better moral, that proper breaks bring.
This will also help to make people work right.
These are all just modern working practices that RM have lagged behind in for decades.

No they wont. :hmmmm The agreement states...

The majority of delivery routes will be designed to start and finish at the workplace; however there will be some duties where it is more beneficial for both parties to agree alternative arrangements.
The work will become standardised under delivery methods, hopefully allowing people to have a manageable workload and to work their time.

Where does it say any of that in the agreement?
Building breaks into the day will also be required.

It is now......legally enforcable too. :d'oh!

Royal Mail get exactly what they want from people NOT taking their breaks......your time for free. :d'oh!
This will also help to make people work right.
You cant "help" people to work right they have to want to. :hmmmm

Guy in my office has said he will be jacking the job in when he's not allowed to use his car anymore.
His reason and I quote word for word here:

"It's to much hassle for me to get the bus..."

Much easier being on the dole struggling to make ends meet isn't it??

Nope.

Standing at the bay before my start time having a smoke and this guy is leaving the office (before his start time as well coming to think of it)
he was talking to another colleague and I politely asked if he felt he would be able to adapt to the job without the use of his motor vehicle.

He then stated the aforementioned quote.

In other companies they manage to make people work right, do you think RM are somehow immune? I have never worked for a company that has working practices that RM still have.
You are overlooking the overiding realities that now exist for RM.
RM need all its employees to work the time for which they are paid.
RM need maximum productivity from their employees which means breaks and mutual cooperation at ALL levels.
RM need a content workforce with good moral which means manageable workloads.
All these things go hand in hand and the sooner everyone realises that coming in early, running, swinging the lead, working through breaks, working inefficiently etc etc... will be to the detriment of all, the better.
