Only two thirds of delivery members were being paid D2D money
the only people that should be getting d2d money are the people that actually do them!!

The agreement indicates that joint working groups have been set up to look at these issues and there are still negotiations going on over the data that will be input into these planning tools. All three of these tools, IWT, Pegasus and Geo-route are computer programmes, there is nothing wrong with the actual programmes and they will be used as planning tools, remember, a computer programme is only as good as the data you put into it. Therefore before anyone starts structuring any new duties this data, such as traffic levels, prep rates, down time, walking speeds and other such data must be agreed nationally first. It’s been indicated that these talks have been making good progress and are nearly completed. With the introduction of D2D’s into workload it has already been accepted that the call rate will have to increase dramatically.I think you know the alternative,HQ promised an independent review of workloads and from that achievable performance standards could be set ie if we are now agreeing to use geo route, then why is the walkspeed not in the agreement, there is only one kind of walking it dosnt vary from area to area.
Sorry I can't comment on your area rep, however I can say this, the answer is to strengthen the local union in your office, if your office doesn't already have one, start a committee for example so that any major decisions/agreements made in your office have to be agreed by the committee first, then tackle the issue of bag weights locally. Also when ive mentioned the 5kg max weight delivering mostly upstairs rule to my area rep he said 'that cant be right, that would mean a removal man couldnt carry a wardrobe upstairs!?!

At the beginning of the most recent negotiations Royal Mail’s stance was, as they currently couldn’t compete in the UK D2D market with a cap of three contracts per week, they would introduce D2D’s into workload, remove the capping and give a one off lump sum payment. This would mean losing D2D payments for ever and lift the capping of three for no extra payment. However the CWU successfully managed to negotiate as part of the new agreement, to secure part of the revenue made on Royal Mail products and incorporate it, together with the early morning shift allowance, into a delivery supplement.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
Some points of the agreement haven't yet been agreed, the reason? Pensions, I think we all realise that very soon there will be a general election and time was running out. One of the criticisms pointed at the CWU and its members was their reluctance to modernise and this is one of the reasons Peter Mandelson gave to part privatise the business. With the support of 151 MP’s who have supported the CWU’s, Keep the Post Public Campaign by signing the Early Day Motion, the CWU want to put it to the current government that, with this new agreement in place it shows that the CWU and its members are fully committed to working together with Royal Mail to modernise the business, and that the CWU have played a responsible role in this. Therefore it’s now the government’s turn to face up to their responsibilities as the main share holder in Royal Mail and resolve the issues of the pension deficit. This has to be done whilst the Labour Party are still in power, if the Conservative Party win the next election, they have made no secret of the fact that their policy is to privatise Royal Mail and if this happens, the current problem with the pension will only be escalated and even more difficult to resolve.feduppostie wrote:It’s been indicated that these talks have been making good progress and are nearly completed.

that's fair enough but I hope you will understand that most here are open on what they will lose/gain and base their views on those facts
if you don't want to reveal yours we really have no clue why you are giving the views you do
and as such we can't understand them compared to ours

Aye if your delivery is predominantly upstairs then the bag weight should be reduced to max of 5 kg,its in the safe systems of work and its also CWU policy,it just gets turned a blind eye to by DOM's and most reps.

Re: The New Delivery Supplement Explained
The new agreement is called the Business Transformation agreement, this indicates a massive change in the way we currently work, nothing is ruled in and nothing is ruled out, it is all about structuring duties that best suit your office, these could be 5,4,3,2 and even 1 hour deliveries, it’s up to you to decide. Play an active role in your office, speak to your union rep or manager, put an idea forward, all ideas have to be investigated and if they prove not to be good ideas it has to be documented as to why. Best practises from other offices will also be shared which might suit your office also taking into consideration personal choice.Cut Off King wrote:Fact - Under this agreement my take home pay will be a lot LESS & YOU will take home less too !
BUT we will all have to work more for the privalidge.
The other parts of the new agreement you have to take into consideration when discussing delivery spans are:
• The introduction of D2D’s into workload will increase traffic figures (meaning more indoor time prepping them, less time left on your duty to fit a much longer deliver span into)
• A dramatic increase in call rates over the ground. (duties are currently structured at between 85 and 90% call rate)
• Meal breaks must be taken in line with legislation, so must be factored in when structuring duties
• The one hour reduction in the working week
• The increased traffic figures created by D2D into workload and other increased data that will be input into geo-route which plans your delivery route and delivery span
• The safety issues, i.e. reducing weight over the shoulder issues by use of new equipment, car derived vans, powered trolleys.
• Fatigue must also be taken into consideration
These are just but a few examples of how delivery spans/workload can be kept down.
