WHO TOLD YOU THAT??????
We were told by the management that 318's no longer meant anything as they are not used by RM after the last agreement.

But my manager is always trying to update them :no no :no no :no no :no no

The As Directed thing is an issue as it gives the manager the last word for the 8hour duty to what you should be doing?

L Tommo Thanks. When you try and tell the strike breakers RM are trying to break the union so if if nothing else you should come out. Just think what it would be like without the CWU. Not only the 318's but all the other things they WOULD IMPOSE :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad

How do you mean, seems a silly question to me but i have to ask.
Is this 100% right,it's always rammed down our throates.
What comeback and evidence have we got to f**k it off??
And what about disciplinary ie as instructed

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Or, Friday Mail Centres - Saturday D0`s/ Then Next Week Monday Mail Centres - Tuesday DO`s/ Then the work to 318s (as sparky above) for the rest of the week. And, as an after thought, 1ST two weeks the North - 2ND two weeks the South.

This way we lose pay only one day per week, but we have a (8 day?) rolling strike, any offer`s?[/quote]

top one bristolchris, why doesn't the union think of stuff like this?????????????????
Or Might it upset their mates :cfo :lfo
I support the union, BUT i also remember being shat on by them in the past

When I last worked in m/c 4 yrs ago, the 318's did say as directed, however they could not move you and then put someone on the duty they are trying to move you from, as I was a FSM sorter that never happened as there were only 8 phg's trained 4 the job.

work to rule once we all leave the office cant be enforced and with job and finish human nature dictates that the idiots will still run instead of walk

Work to rule WON'T work!

Post by pilot »

RM would love us to work to rule as a form of industrial action! Lets not kid ourselves, how long before some egomaniac minded DUM tries to pursue someone through the conduct code for working to rule. You all know this will happen somewhere and in the current industrial climate likely to cause an unofficial walkout in that unit.

RESULT - the unofficial walkout locally would invalidate the whole national ballot and CWUHQ would need to undertake a re-ballot of the entire RM CWU membership. Another possibility which could happen is that the local walkout could quite easily spread to surrounding units and eventually become a national walkout. Whilst this may look attractive to some (and there may be some merit in this approach at a later stage) we all need to realise that this would be our ultimate position and could quite easily force a substantial number of members to cross picket lines. Lets not forget the 1996 dispute (employee agenda) which defeated RM plans for team working, etc. During this dispute a phrase was adopted which is as important today as it was back then, this was "maximum impact to the employer, minimum impact to CWU members pockets". We took 8 odd days industrial action over a 12 week period.

Surely a better approach would be a more imaginative form of industrial action? In Bristol there has been several options discussed at meMbers gate meetings but I believe the most effective option would be to functionalise the dispute (e.g. Take Mail Centres only out on a Thursday, delivery & distribution in. Processing, Delivery & Distribution in on Friday as there would be very little mail processed for delivery to take out, take out Delivery & Distribution on the Saturday where there would be massive mail volumes and the inability for most deliveries to be completed or even undertaken due to the mail volumes and shorter attendance times on that day. The following week, start the same process on the Monday - the effect would be far more problematic to RM and the recovery timescales for them would be vastly increased to what they currently are. This would also follow the phrase of 1996 with a maximum of 1 days pay from our weekly wages).

Lets hope CWUHQ become more imaginative to bring this dispute to swift but successful conclusion.
