This need sorting out before end of season (football) so we can work out if a season ticket is doable or not.
Working later than we do on Saturday is completely, totally, 100% unacceptable. End of.
How the CWU can even think of including this in an agreement is unacceptable - unless they are doing it deliberately to ensure the "new agreement" is kicked out totally by members in a ballot.
Should such a thing ever come to pass with CWU blessing, there will be many job losses at HQ and EC level because members will leave in tens of thousands.
Think long and hard about this Mr Ward.

Re: Late Saturdays
Interestingly this is the one issue that has got my colleagues talking in an angry manner !, I say interestingly because in the past the bunch I work with have been very difficult to get out on strike, I think about a 5% turnout last time, but this morning it was mucho banter against later Saturdays, so I get the idea that a lot of normally non boat rocking staff will fight against this one, and thus it is the one area that already see's any new agreement dead in the water. Our DOM was heard to say that he's been told theres a £1000.00 sweetner in it for us if we vote yes, personally it would have to be much more than that to buy my weekend hours of leisure time.

1000 pounds is not worth giving up watching Aston Villa on Saturdays. But it would be nice to go out on Friday nights for little longer. But I can cope with 4 hours sleep on Saturday morning after Friday night out then go to work.

Carew, later starts mean that could change from 4 hours to 5/6 hours.

That's what Fords in Halewood did to get rid of the Friday night shift. It worked too.Carew wrote:If Royal Mail start introducing very late saturdays I can see us striking every saturday to get no more late saturdays.

Re: Late Saturdays
Just done a quick calculation for me personaly,if I were to get a £1000,attractive on the face of it,minus tax based upon the tax paid today ,NI and pension today would work out ,£14.23 net per week, for working later Saturdays ,and totaly messing up your weekend = NO WAY.
I suggest a more realistic figure in the region of £5000,gross=£71 net per week, just for Saturdays.
I know I have better chances on the lottery,so just another NO VOTE.
I do not get involved with d2d too much ,so on the surface any payment would be good, but if I suddenly had to do D2D daily for £30 a week gross another No VOTE
Extending delivery time ,by any longer than 3.5 hours at present no vote.
I beleive my veiws are the same across the office,I am sure our veiws could change for a intresting pay deal, after all if Crozier can get £3m bonus for doing such a good job
like down stream access price ,closure of Post offices etc, their is plenty of money in the POT.
Every proposal to get a yes vote needs a attractive offer and giving up allowances,so we are either looking at a very atractive pay rise or we are looking at strike action and possibly a brakeaway CWU arm (happened to the Num)

Re: Late Saturdays
If Union let this late Saturday rubbish go through I will be saving some money and quitting them. 1 in 3 saturdays off is no justification.

£14 and some change for 1 year.Puppetmaster wrote:Just done a quick calculation for me personaly,if I were to get a £1000,attractive on the face of it,minus tax based upon the tax paid today ,NI and pension today would work out ,£14.23 net per week, for working later Saturdays ,and totaly messing up your weekend = NO WAY.
What if you've 10 years or 20 left to go (hopefully), that £14 a week is now worth much less.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP
