Re: royal mail christmas cards
Cost-Cutting- PAH !!! just how much did it cost your company to send out all of these "Merry Christmas" cards?? - here's the maths :
a) 2001 National Statistics Office shows 24.14 million households in the UK
b) 2nd class "account" postage 25p
c) cost of production - estimate a5 gummed mailer, 25 million = 1p each
so . . . (B+C) x A = 26p x 24,140,000 = £6,276,400
SIX AN A QUARTER MILLION QUID !!!
Even if my "estimates" are 75% out, somebody somewhere has signed-off a couple of million pounds worth of wasted money, the notices are on the internet, in all of your outlets, plain to see, we dont need a "Christmas card" to tell us!!
If this is the "modernisation" and efficiency you guys are experiencing then there is no hope for you at all (which is why I fully support your position and actions). Somebody diserves the sack for this wastage.
Merry Christmas anyway!!

They always make us lapse on monday and tuesday, regardless of the traffic because they've already taken out the duties to be lapsed and they don't have the staff to cover the jobs. We get screwed over all of the time.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Sorry but WTF - we had one for every address so thats a 100% call rate - at best Pegasus is worked out at 89% call rate so there is no way that "where time exists within normal hours" could be appliedMr Blonde wrote:They made us take them all AND made us lapse.happymackem wrote:yea we got a weekrhino49 wrote:We were told to spread them over the week and not to claim overtime if we took them all out at once.Mr Blonde wrote:and I thought that this was going to be a moan about having to take these pieces of s**t out to every single house today.
BUT
i reckon that they gave us a week so we would still have to bloody lapse

I got in this morning to find all these dumped on top of my frame, can't blame the guy who covered my leave as they were Mailsort. Getting pissed off with DSA stuff of odd shapes & sizes they should be of a standard size but all RM think of is the money

Re: royal mail christmas cards
I took out all of mine today.....it was only as I was climbing into the van and mentioned it, that my driver said we'd been told we had two days ( first I feckin' heard that! ) Still, all my bags were underweight, and I didn't go over ( didn't bloody rush either, as usual ) and they're done now - light day tomorrow!
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Re: royal mail christmas cards
We were told by our DOM they all had to go in one hit, (it was saturday!) 100% call rate.
I finally left the office at 11 and ended up bringing back HALF my walk
Piss up and brewery spring to mind.

Re: royal mail christmas cards
We got told all of them had to go today - which really upset the office becuase it ruined what would have been one of the easiest days in months, before putting these into my frame I had lovely big gaps of 10-20 houses all over my frame meaning i would have proabably only called at about 500 of 700 houses - these gaps soon disappeared with this rubbish in em! Now reading on here that other offices have upto a week to deliver them has made me even angrier becuase to top it all off it was like a hurricane on delivery today with the wind and rain.

Re: royal mail christmas cards
When we get stuff like this we just take it as we have to deliver them that day. We never get told anything different. If it causes us to go over our time we claim the overtime. Nothing ever gets said about that.

Re: royal mail christmas cards
We got them on Saturday and were told 2 days. Saturday cost them an hours OT from most of the staff and today cost them another hours OT. They would have been better sending them out as D2D's as it would have been cheaper in our office
