Re: EFFING GROW UP
I can see it was a good PR excercise by the union to call off the strikes before christmas so as not to lose too much public support,

Re: EFFING GROW UP
A few of them would probablly like to be shafted and each to their own I say.
You have to remeber public opinion has a habit of quickly becomming press opinion and then government action. With a massive public backlash we would be stuffed like the miners. Don't forget that.

"With this interim-agreement the IA remains ACTIVE. There is NO 'no-strike period' so we have a stronger position than that refused by RM before the action!!!!!!!!!!!!"

You are contradicted by your own posts.
What do you suggest we do if RM do not play ball.?
As i've already stated the public and press believe this is a "No Strike Agreement"
If the CWU called another national strike it would be an admittance that the original agreement was not strong enough.
No amount of spin would convince the public this was RMs fault.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I'm not being funny but I honestly can't see any contradiction there. Please explain if you want.fishtank wrote: You are contradicted by your own posts.

If RM don't play ball we go out again and we won't need any spin atall. The CWU and RM have agreed to the same agreement and that states in black and white that progress checks will be made and if insufficient progress is made ACAS will anounce as much. In such a situation there will be no problem going back out as RM will have backtracked on the agreement.
re: 'No-Strike deal' Often the detail is missed by the public/press but CWU will have a rock solid case for further IA if RM backtrack. A stronger position than 3weeks ago.

Re: EFFING GROW UP
I understand fishtanks post( and his earlier post). The public thinks there will be no more strikes before xmas.I had the conversation 3 times with my customers on Saturday morning. We have to tell people that IA is still a possibility. We have to tell our colleagues that IA is still a possibility. And it will have to be rock solid.Nothing would please RM more than thinking the hard part is over.It ain't.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: EFFING GROW UP
Good stuff. This sounds a lot more positive.opgpat wrote:Can we just accept that the union HAD to call off the IA becasue RM agreed to involving ACAS and an independant party in negotiations. CWU already offered a no-strike period before the strikes so to go back on that would look REALLY bad and be hypocritical. With this interim-agreement the IA remains ACTIVE. There is NO 'no-strike period' so we have a stronger position than that refused by RM before the action!!!!!!!!!!!!
The trouble with my place of work is I never seem to get any decent information like this.
No I'm not being paranoid, they really are out to get me.

Re: EFFING GROW UP
The trick is chaps ,not to let management get a toe hold.
Obviously any major change in direction can cause confusion and disarray ,and equally obvious is the fact that management will attempt to exploit any public sign of division.
The game remains the same, and it is a simple one.
Stand together or get screwed.
Time for CWU comms. to hit overdrive and publicise just what a huge RM climbdown this position is

Re: EFFING GROW UP
Sarcasm is a form of humor that uses sharp, cutting remarks or language intended to mock, wound, or subject to contempt or ridicule, generally saying the opposite of what the statement really is.
