dim or what this 1s a switch without a light bulbPostal_Customer wrote:Well having read the document, as a customer I wholly support the Management's view.
I dont see why the union should get anything more than they are required as a minimum under law.
The restrictive practices should be renegotiated. Transformation programmes must be pushed through.
This document looks like a breath of fresh air, the management and government should have had the bottle to sort this out years ago.
As a customer I can live with a bit of disruption for a few months if we get a modernised service at the end of it.
In this day of telephone and email, there is not much that would really inconvenience me with the strike, it will just encourage me to go with paperless options for billing and statements, and any packages I need can be delivered by other providers.
The postal workers need to realise they are shooting themselves in the foot, and that they will lose business and lose more jobs the longer they strike. The only people who will be seriously inconvenienced by this are the postal workers themsleves.
Bring it on.
I want to see a modern postal service I can be proud of as a British consumer.

Re: ROYAL MAIL DISPUTE: LEAKED ROYAL MAIL STRATEGY DOCUMENT
I have been a post office worker for over 23 years. When I first started I really enjoyed my job but over time I have noticed that the workers are not being listened to by Management and have lost out in a big way. There is abuse going on in the post office but nobody is interested. I can tell you that a few years ago I was diagnosed with Cancer I very stupidly thought that I would get a bit of understanding from the management but when I had to take a bit of time off due to my illness all I got were discipinaries and threats of the sack, if that is not abuse tell me what is. I call in if I am unwell as I am expected to and receive phone calls a couple of hours later asking me if I will be back the next day which is harrassment. I have always done my job well and am very diligent and try to never let my customers down. It is a pity Royal Mail cannot say the same about the way they treat their workers.

Experiences like yours can be echoed in so many offices.

Thats a disgrace, after 23 years of service, they treat you like that, the managment (if you can call them that) should have been supporting you and your family though that dificult time and not trying to pull the rug out from under you, the managment should get the sack as thats no way to manage staffBigK wrote:I have been a post office worker for over 23 years. Hellmail used to have poster names like Postal_Customer - it was so obvious and contrived - if it's RM it's laid on too thickIWW Fellow Worker wrote:itllnottouchyou wrote:fellow 76% do rise to the bait of this clown he is just a wind up!! he s doing some shouting now cos his giro gets paid straight into his bank and dos nt care when he gets his post!!IWW Fellow Worker wrote:What you will get is a long term cost increase once your heroes Mandy and Sadam get their way. The lasting change will be mail delivered at 16.00. Should I care? Not really.Postal_Customer wrote:I'll be happy to use other carriers as long as the strike lasts, it will be worth it, in my personal opinion.
I dont mind a short term cost increase if we get lasting change.
He's certainly the village idiot, but I enjoy a laugh.
If it's RM - it'll sound pompous and arrogant + simplistic

Just a couple of points ,our line manager was up for bullying and harrasment via HAVE YOUR SAY ,an investagater came in (former mails manager)
.At the end of the investagation they said they would be back to us with there findings
two years later NOTHING DONE .If a postman bullyes u would be out the door like a rocket strange that .When pegasus telematry was introduced to us we were told it was for economic and safety reasons ,we asked would it be used to batter postman against postman or to bully the postman .Managment true to there word are dragging postmen into office ,asking why it takes joe blogs 4hrs and it takes you 5 hrs fair enough .But you explain if joe bloggs wants to come in 1 hr before he is due to start then thats his problem .Postmen listen to what the union are saying ,stop using your cars , coming in early , RUNNING round delivery ,jumping fences, gardens, speeding not taking your full break WHY !! BECAUSE YOUR JUST PUTTING MORE MONEY INTO YOUR MANAGERS BONUS POCKET nothing more well maybe more YOUR GIVING MANAGMENT FALSE AMMUNITION TO SHOOT YOUR WORK MATES :lfo

I'm a customer and I've been lurking on here for a while. The Lone Postie has brought me out of hiding, as he/she seems to be the only person who has worked it out.*The Lone Postie* wrote:Why do i get a bad feeling were walking into a trap by striking!RM/Govt seem to be all geared up for this. However their plan can only work if we cave in after a few weeks national if we can last we have a chance!!?
You are all so busy fighting for a past that is long gone that you can't see what's happening. And before you all start hurling abuse and writing me off as a plant, hear me out for a minute.
You've chosen to maximise disruption for customers, ie people like me, by staggering the strike. Rather than just make your point by having one-off strikes on one-off days so people like me know when to post and when not to post. You've tied it to a weekend and half term which makes you look lazy, workshy and opportunistic. Those of you that strike, well your names will be on 'the list' for the next round of redundancies. Between now and then you'll get abuse from frustrated customers, large and small. If you honestly think, as some of you seem to here, that the public are 'with you' you are absolutely deluded. Take yourself over to Twitter, put 'Royal Mail' in the search box and you'll find pages and pages of abuse by customers whose packages have already gone astray, pay cheques haven't turned up, time sheets didn't get to them in time so they didn't get their overtime, official documents of all sorts which haven't turned up, small business owners who haven't received the parts they need etc etc. It goes on and on. And that's just the fall-out from the unofficial strikes, the great British Public hasn't even started yet.
I read today that Royal Mail have hired hundreds of unemployed drivers to move post around during the strikes and that they've rented warehouse space to sort out parcels to avoid all Ebay customers moving to alternative methods after this first wave of strikes is past (because, inevitably, there'll be more). They didn't just do that overnight now did they. Did you honestly think they were going to stand by and let you hold them to ransom and destroy Royal Mail in the process as they watch the likes of Amazon, John Lewis, House of Fraser switch to alternative carriers? It's their business too remember, their livelihood they can see going down the toilet. You're leaving them with no other choice but to play hardball.
When this is all over your jobs will be lost, your Union Leaders will be holed up with their cigars in their big houses writing their memoires and you'll be left with your memories that you seem to value so much - I hope you enjoy them, because you won't have much else. And if you think management will cave in - well think about Mandy for a moment. Do you think he'll let them? He will stop at nothing when he decides he wants something, and he's made it pretty clear that he doesn't want this.
My Dad was a postman. I know it's hard. I know most of you do a wonderful job, mostly unthanked, and the public generally only notice when things go wrong rather than the 90% of the time when things work well. But this road is the suicide road for you.
Write me off as a plant if you want, it doesn't matter to me. But for your own sake THINK ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING and how things would look to you if you weren't so close to it.
I'm off now as I know the bullets will start flying.
Connie

the hundreds of unemployed drivers sounds like the Thatcher / McGregor strategy - " Recruit non - union drivers " - it's 2009 not the 80's anymore
They are very much rant by numbers - Belial

If you had managed to read that sentence to the end you'd see "the lone postie" is advocating sticking with it for the long haul.CustomerConnie wrote:I'm a customer and I've been lurking on here for a while. Yeh ,much the same as 2007 but with a twist. Still doing the same old "you're doomed" "union is ripping you off" stuff but they refined the approach a bit to exploit the free speech/fairplay loophole to slip in under the radar. Funny how this time, instead of being loyal union members who have all seen the light, they are now all sorely disappointed customers who are immune from criticism even though they can spout the management handbook chapter and verse
You gotta admire their talent for spotting and exploiting a weakness.

yep - that's the line they parrot out , on Fluffy - it's not his Master's voice breathing down their necks - they're only repeating what customers have been telling them - er yeah rightBELIAL wrote:norbert wrote:document comes out showing RM in a very bad light , then all these rabid tories come out of the woodwork sounding like a Daily Express editorial to disrupt things .
