Re: Postman who hit manager wins his job back
Well clashcityrocker what else can be said about the man except to wish him a long and happy retirement, but in his case maybe a short painfull one would be best. I know of at least 2 other postmen he tried to sack but who were reinstated on appeal. It seem the man was just on an ego trip (maybe because his brother was a gangster
) so in the end he got what was coming to him. Good Riddance

Re: Postman who hit manager wins his job back
Whether this manager has gone (left the business) is not really the point at issue. We can recall the tribunal conclusions "A reasonable employer would have adopted a more cautious approach to Mr Goldie's evidence given his 'selective memory' and failing to test the reliability of a witness who's statements were to say the least inconsistent add to that the act of provocation.
Shouldn't all past disciplinary and grievance cases involving this manager, where employees have been sacked or had disciplinary procedures instigated against them, be put under further scrutiny and completely reviewed by the business in the interest of natural justice, given the nature of this particular manager's 'selective memory' 'inconsistent statements' and act or acts of provocation.

"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

But who is going to do that?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I too heard the gangster story.clashcityrocker wrote: He liked to tell staff his brother was a gangster, a hard man in the Glasgow underworld. This was obviously designed to intimidate, though one postie said it didn't intimidate him because his dad was a policeman..
Wish I had thought of the "my dads a policeman reply."
Will spare a thought for Mr Goldie tomorrow on the picket line.It is the likes of him that will have thousands stood on picket lines up and down the country.
Round up the usual suspects.
