i remember a manager saying to me, "your doing a good job..maybe too much of a good job".. where is the logic in that?
if i was buying a new car, the paint sprayer cannot be doing too much of a good job. if someone was painting a house, you don't say to them "oh you're doing too much of a good job of that".

most walks of life, there is always something going on somewhere. someone works faster whether by nature or just for the heck of it and shows the others up. if you're good at your job, well done. if someone is good at their job because they push themselves to make themselves look good, up yours lol.

equally as baffling daft sayings. if you're going to make a noise, make it quietly
and here comes avi cohen! oh i say! at the same end, he's got one back!!

the irony is ( though RM don't do irony & contradiction ) with that macho management style things become a self for-filling prophecy , people will do wind down and "office furniture" will start practicing to retire , not do a tap on the last day , go sick , p**s about etc , etc . No loyalty & none is expected , it comes from the very top as people can only be motivated by money alone apparently :hmmmm - pride & professionalism goes out the window

I accept that some managers have to be one or two steps ahead , but these morons that have never left the playground think everybody is as petty , sad & small minded as they are :hmmmm - cynical places but you can have juvenile cynicism .

It's :lfo '[s bonus culture from Sales , you'd think those idiots were paying his redundancy money out of their own pockets

RM used to only tell their TC's & AG's that they were going at the very last minute in case they went sick so it's always gone on , but RM were a bit more choosy who they'd pick on then .

I wouldn't p*** on those " managers " if they were on fire and nobody will want to do a second over their time :d'oh! :d'oh!

If you dont want the o/t get a ruling you do not have to work past your time if you dont want, if you do they can not refuse to pay you o/t regardless of what your manager is telling you at the time.Dont feel intimadated by then they are only the same as you human although they dont act it most of the time, there was a similar incident in our office and i informed the people in question they were intimadating to go in next time with there rep to book there o/t.The more years that pass by the more and more ridiculous royal mail gets the company is now being run by monkeys who dont have a clue what there left hands doing to there right. :mfo

Did book overtime, but had to jump through the hoops to do so, this flexible working is being used to to cut down hours, its difficult to argue if there a light Mon and Tues that suppossedly balance out the heavy days, unless the Mon and Tues are heavy as well, lots of people have caved in, you should have seen the look on my Lino's face when I said I am going over, he tried everything to persuade me not to book, I invited him to come out with me on delivery, which he declined, eventually I did but had to let the Union know to cover my arse.

I am one of the few coming in on time, not using my Car, its difficult being surrounded by muppets, I have to be careful and not push too much as I don't want to be hassled, I will strongly resist any attempt to do so, no one bullies me with impunity, at the same time I want to have a quiet life, take my money and go home, so its a balancing act, its easy to be bolshie on the forum, on the ground its not so easy.

Yes you are right it is easy to say you stand up on here as i do and you do but is also hard too do as i have done and you have done so in the real world out on the streets!. You can only be an inspiration to all for your actions in the workplace!. Time will tell if all will follow you actions in your workplace if not you will be as unwelcome as i by some but i don't give two sh*ts about them for their downfall will come as such a shock to them and no surprise to me!. GOOD LUCK KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!.

There is no agreement on banking/balancing hours as far as i am aware as RM paid mere lip service to the Working Groups which came under phase 4 of the Pay & Mod Agmnt. The only other mention of hours in the P&M Agmnt comes where ... 'all hours to be utilised'.

My argument would be (if you are on long and short days) your 40 hours is already organised to suit the delivery model in your DO. It is up to RM to fill the working hours of each day. If they can't, then you go home, simple as that. You are not obliged to accept that an early finish on a Tuesday entitles the DOM to prevent you booking O/T on a Friday if you need to go over your normal time.

Pressure O/T is one area that DOMs are looking to cut back on drastically to fit within budgets. I know of DO's booking 'Pressure O/T' against 'Absence' etc, where the DOM does have a budget to spend extra.

:shhhhh ... ... :arrrghhh
