That's never been suggested by senior management nor the CWU, even if it maybe happening? I doubt it's as easy as just wanting rid of legacy staff, more like wanting rid of legacy staff who don't already give 110%.Barnacle wrote: ↑25 Aug 2026, 19:54They’ve made no secret of the fact that they’re want rid of legacy and want everyone on a new contract.guardianangel wrote: ↑25 Aug 2026, 19:47It seems there is a plan to get rid of legacy contracts ,giving the easy walks to new starters and bigger heavier walks to the older ones who are breaking down on delivery and trying (hoping )they quit so less VRs next year. would a union officer please come on here and tell me that is not what is happening but if it is what are they doing about it.
They don’t want to pay any VR so are not replacing staff at the same rate as they are leaving. It’s best to imagine that no one will get VR.
If new starters are managing to get walk picks that are ‘easy’ that will be short lived because everyone will be doing DM26.

The introduction of the new contract in 2022 was a great big neon sign that they want rid of the legacy contract/staff.TopperGas wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 18:11That's never been suggested by senior management nor the CWU, even if it maybe happening? They want staff who work Sundays and they want drivers.
The spanner in that is that new starters don’t stay. The turnover rate is huge.

Between 2013 and 2015 there were 60,000 duties. Obviously plenty have been ripped out since and some of that number were probably not 'core' duties (hybrids, etc). For talking's sake, 10,500 50/50 duties is maybe a fifth nationally. Office to office that'll vary based on geography. In ours they're only 10% of duties - some very senior people are quite belatedly finding out about the joys of Park & Loop.postslippete wrote: ↑25 Aug 2026, 17:0110,500 walks doing 50/50, but what proportion of those duties to those actually working in shared vans and pods?

Giving money to the CWU is the same as throwing it down a drain. They're an unscrupulous lot, like their management counterparts for which they're in cahoots with.postmanplod2026 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2026, 21:12weve no had a re sign in 30 years and ive heard theres not another coming, so much for the union saying everyone will be having one they talk out their bumhole if there not in tune with offices theyve never visited since 16 years ago

So you must be in a tiny office with staff who have never left? Surely there must have been repicks since the last century?postmanplod2026 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2026, 21:12weve no had a re sign in 30 years and ive heard theres not another coming, so much for the union saying everyone will be having one they talk out their bumhole if there not in tune with offices theyve never visited since 16 years ago

I would say no. Direct union involvement in every office (if they have a rep) of a company is thing of the past for most industries.
One of the last proper unionised workforces along with the trains.

Re: DM26 Resign
So from personal experience the office I work at had were left with 2 options 2 in 5 or a 9 day fortnight I pointed out the two duty patterns for the latter which they tried to block anyway they even did a brief when I was on my day off expressing there concern for our health with longer days this back fired we opted with a massive majority for a 9 day fortnight early finish on a Saturday management were mortified anyway this has created massive problems for them for example covering the 4 sea’s in the afternoon plus pushing the LAT in our office to their contracted start time which is 3pm going live on the 21 sept cannot wait to see what they are going to do I will keep you posted.

Maybe remove the 9 day fortnight option due to it not working?billycat wrote: ↑09 Sep 2026, 12:43So from personal experience the office I work at had were left with 2 options 2 in 5 or a 9 day fortnight I pointed out the two duty patterns for the latter which they tried to block anyway they even did a brief when I was on my day off expressing there concern for our health with longer days this back fired we opted with a massive majority for a 9 day fortnight early finish on a Saturday management were mortified anyway this has created massive problems for them for example covering the 4 sea’s in the afternoon plus pushing the LAT in our office to their contracted start time which is 3pm going live on the 21 sept cannot wait to see what they are going to do I will keep you posted.

Re: DM26 Resign
The problem with removing the 9 day fortnight is since our failed revision 2 years ago is the majority of our duties are impossible to complete so the option we went for would of given us more time out on delivery the answer would be to make the duties achievable which they have refused point blank telling us that will come next year when they have the time quoting DM27 we have consistently been on the failed list so if this is forced in on any other duty pattern not only will they have a disgruntled workforce the officer will collapse further either way the general consensus in our office is we couldn’t care less we have had 2 years of complete failure and empty promises.
