Start times need to change fact, sick pay been abused fact, pay deal and lump sum is crap I get that but at the end of the day Royal Mail needs to change fact, odds on ballot 4/9 yes 7/4 no
We all agree that RM needs to change. It needs to change how it is being run, it needs to change the board, it needs to change its culture and its core values.
Just attacking our terms and cons in the drive for us to become just another gig employment model in the quest for bigger and bigger profits is not the way forward.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
It sure does, it needs to appreciate and reward it's quality, hardworking staff, provide a quality, reliable service and stop siphoning away money and assets
Hopefully the ballot's been put back to allow time to see what's coming next with the CEO stuff, it's probably just in the hope that more members crash from angry to apathetic and vote "yes" in an "oh, whatever..." way

some questioned if the timing of the ballot was linked to a report by the company to the market, not sure if that is true, the last ballot on an agreement took quite a while too for the results to be counted, so i just think it's just a coincidence,
however the cynical side of me wonders if the timing of simple simon leaving could also be linked?
perhaps they know when he officially leaves and they think it may add a few yes votes?
still a no from me regardless of who is in charge

I have some very simple questions to the PEC because this post has completely changed the way the deal will be viewed. I was advocating a pragmatic approach with my posts on this site. My view has been shattered as I now think the deal will not be honoured by RM.
MY QUESTIONS TO THE PEC ARE ;
1. What will be your course of action if RM refuse to change their attitude and treatment of the workforce?
2. How can you ask anybody to vote for something that you are now saying is not being honoured even before it has been agreed?. That is ridiculous.
3. How and who will monitor the RM attitude and behaviour?
4. Will you recommend a no vote if RM behaviour does not change?
5. How long will RM be allowed to change their behaviour?
This action has made the CWU look completely incompetent and actually quite stupid. The ink is hardly dry on the proposed agreement and RM is already apparently ignoring it.
Absolutely pathetic, it’s all beyond a joke. They’re not going to be able to reverse revisions, they’ll laugh at them.
if they put the lapsing back to what it was with sufficient staff, all the extra stuff like scanning tracked and autoredelivery might be doable. They went way beyond the line of reality
Not sure about that one, having a bit of innovative thinking, as RM like to call it, how about we have a later afternoon shift for that. Oh we already do.
Ok then why dont we just continue on with that then?
No matter how late we finish, we arent a 24/7 delivery company yet, i would like to say never but who knows what the future holds.
So we have say between the hours of say 7am to 9pm to deliver parcels (Based on amazon) so thats 14hrs so we split it into 7am-2pm and 2pm-9pm.
There you go 35hr week sorted.
Can i be the new CEO.
They had better send out the ballot papers now, otherwise some of us won't get them in time.
This happened with the local elections in my delivery office, there were so many trays of mail, some of the ones with ballot papers were at the bottom and didn't get touched until a couple of days before the election day.
There might still be some that haven't even been delivered yet!
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned in the news / newspapers (perhaps it has?).
The surrender agreement mentions the revisions are too carry on as planned which makes a mockery of what clueless Dave and Andy pandy are going on about.
What the same parcels we deliver now? Nobody fell for that crap about customers wanting to be able to order a toaster at midnight and wanting it the following day ? Yes I know Amazon can do that but we dont sell toasters so people would go to Amazon if they really must have toast the following day. I realise it might not have been a toaster that was mentioned, but you get the idea

If I remember correctly it was during the strikes period some company that makes biscuits said they wanted to be able to despatch late night orders for next day delivery.
I've said a few times now that as per usual RM are trying to cure another of their own goal f**k ups this particular one being the lat system of paying a flat 4 hours or whatever for someone to deliver the lat parcels after their own duty, most posties I know that do lats are the office runners who's only goal is to finish early to get their lats done mostly on ghost.
What about introducing a type of hybrid duty doing for example half a walk followed by lat parcels which I'd imagine would be attractive to some who are struggling with a full duty.
