Replacement of STAR guns in lockers

I.e Do you still need to scan in every item on arrival?

Are there york and bag labels which when scanned register the contents as having arrived at the MC (like cross docked yorks from the parcel hubs )?

Don't think it's gone live yet locally but when it does and I end up covering in our lockers, I'll still scan every item. We have to scan all the items in cross docked yorks from the North-West hub as the sorting isn't reliable enough. Just because the items listed as being in a bag/york/sleeve by scanning the container it doesn't prove that them items have arrived at the office.

We just scan the york label and cross dock them,
If it is marked with D2DO (direct to delivery office)

the ones marked as RES (residue) we take in for processing

We don’t trust anything from from the Milton Keynes hub though (MKSC) they really ought to shake that place up.

The new system using PDAs still uses Dun's whilst MC's migrate to the new system.

Those MCs that have gone live use new 2d barcode on bags of sleeve or Large parcel. This new 2d barcode replaces Dun.
You still have to check total contents add up to what is displayed on PDA from scanning receipt of 2d label. Any discrepancies require you to Verify all by scanning everything in against 2d barcode.

Each individual Large/heavy item requires its own individual 2d barcode.

Receipt of bags/sleeves/page without Dun or 2d barcode can be called up on PDA either to find Dun number and total amount or select option to take on all mail individually (previously bag without Dun on Star 2)

Once all staff in locker room including Reserves are properly trained then new system is faster for dispatching items to bags or sleeves as you don't have to wait to print Duns.
Sleeves auto default to 280 and bags 35 and you get Warning when 1 x item out to then close container.

Large/heavy items is slower as each individual item requires its own 2d barcode.
You therefore need plenty of labels and a good reliable replenishment of said 2d labels.

Not been in our locker since the new guns were brought in but when I am I'll just scan every item. From past experience the DUNs are either missing or are wrong.

Bags can sometimes have more than 35 items in them if there's a load of flats or letters

With the larger items needing its own individual label, couldn't you just use 1 label attached to a york full of oversized? We have a full York of oversized for most DO's.
