I think each and every one of us speaking here has a good point. Some people will fight tooth and nail to save the job. Some has gone back in without putting up too much of a resistance and some just wants out now.

At the end of the day it is all down to personal circumstances. I am angry watching how events unfold and greedy ceo couldn't care less about destruction of christmas deliveries for his many customers, he has no interest in well-being of his staff. He somehow gets away with it. Honestly speaking, I believe they may have written Christmas off but let's see what happens just before 25th December and hopefully more dates are announced in due course.

If this won't him budge and he continues with executive action afrer new year it is finall call to enhance search for a new job , go back in and do the bare minimum, work to rule, cut back on whatever you don't need and shift your focus on getting out of royal mail.

I just can't see it resolved ever if this is not concluded around new year at the latest or CEO is removed.

It's all well and good twittering on about removing Thompson but he's just the mouth piece isn't he? Why do the CWU never mention Keith Williams? Surely he's the real problem? Thompson is just his puppet. Until Williams and his board are gone, it's just same attacks time after time, kicked 6 months down the road.

The only way to get some sort of acceptable agreement is if there is a long term plan for IA. One solid week per month. A day here and there is almost pointless

Xmas has been wrote off, no way it gets sorted now and so I’m beginning to think the worst, the ceo has to be under instructions to do this, and he obviously doesn’t care anyway as he will walk away with a big pot of money to add to his already big pot of money, it’ll be accept what the business wants or leave

I finally broke and went back to work today. I always said, I’d support it until I couldn’t afford to pay my bills. I have a lot of respect for people carrying this on, but I live and have only me to rely on and everyone is in different circumstances.
I do believe that Royal Mail is not budging and come January we are going to be in a s**t storm and striking is not going to change a thing.
My mind has been made up for months. This job is done and it’s downhill from here. My advice is everyone to look for a new job.
It’s not defeatist, it’s realism. Royal Mail didn’t give one inch at its busiest and most profitable time of the year, it’s not going to give in as things get quieter. I really hope I’m wrong, I really do.

I get frustration of people but how long do you want to carry on striking if around 5months of striking did basically nothing? The Xmas pressure period, backlogs, frustrated businesses and big retailers leaving royal mail and growing anger of members of public, and all we got is blame shifting and accusations from RM . I do understand that constant threat of industrial actions will make royal mail very uncomfortable but in current economic climate where we are in the race to the bottom and with minimum wage catching up rapidly, this is the fight not worth fighting. Many people genuinely can't afford any more.

I am sick of the toxic culture, senior management destroying everything and bullying being passed down the ladder all the way to the bottom. Then there is the bullying of strike breakers, so evident while reading the forum.

I have not broken strike but I find more and more pointless to carry on, especially after new year.

What would you say to single parents with no savings, just running debt up, who can't even pay their bills? A lot of people who started this job in recent years, they couldn't enjoy the golden times at Royal Mail, where if you wanted to work you could almost double your wage by working overtime and still have some life left in you. They are often younger people living hand to mouth or with very little spare money just trying to get by whilst raising a family. I really don't get the toxicity towards strike breakers.

Has anyone actually tried to get the strike fund? Hearing that you need to show bank statements to cwu to prove struggling and if true that is absolutely ridiculous? Anyone heard of people recieving any help from CWU from the striek fund thats been going for months now?

When will people realise you pick a side, cwu or Royal Mail, you then stick by that side, there are a million reasons to cross a picketline, but not one excuse, people saying they can’t afford to strike in our office are cutting off and refusing to work their days off? So obviously it’s not about the money or they would be working every bit of overtime they can?

Not for this to sound disingenuous but I think if you’ve given up on striking then you should definitely be looking for a new job. This job won’t be worth doing if they bring in the commitment to deliver procedure.

I’ll be striking until either resolution or I find a new job. The sad thing is - they’ve made a decent, rewarding job absolutely poisonous.

I'll carry on striking, only my wage pt, if I get finished then so be it. I don't have a problem with people going back to work, everyone is in different situations, the cwu should pay a strike fund to us all, never mind sending bank statements to prove your skint. Other unions pay strike days and it would stop people strike breaking. Perhaps something they can look at

Expect Thompson to do his job, get changes in by end of financial year - take his massive bonus and clear off. We hope the other board members, share folk, think the same as us, got my doubts. The strike is hurting money wise, but im gutted we cant deliver xmas - coz we are great with cards and presents, always have been. All depends where the RM and CWU's breaking point is. Who pulls Thompsons strings ?
