Must be on a wind up. Surely they are getting the boot and this is some last desperate act.

What happens with annualised hrs if you just worked all winter on longer hrs and then left the business in spring before you could recoup those hrs by working shorter days? Has that been addressed?

I tried to explain these points and the proposed new working practices to people in my office. They’ve seen the pay rise % (which even then is being misrepresented) and the possibility of a lump sum and think it can’t be that bad.
I had this conversation on Tuesday with a colleague:
Him: seen the new offer? The payrise isn’t that bad.
Me: it’s not actually the figure Thompson is saying but anyway, have you seen the Ts and Cs?
Him: No but it doesn’t matter, I’ll take the money, start at my start time, clock out at my finish time.
Me: You won’t have a finish time. You’ll have signed a contract committing to deliver everything.
Him: I don’t care. Can’t make me stay past 2.50pm, my finish time.
Me: Honestly, read up on it, you won’t have a finish time.
Him: What if I’ve got an appointment?
Me: Doesn’t matter, you’ve committed to deliver, so you’ll be delivering what the manager tells you.
Him: Well we’ll soon see about that as I clock out bang on time.
Talk about banging your head against a brick wall.

They should send a few staff our way, we must have at least a dozen casuals/agency in eahc shift at any time of the year.2chorizon wrote: ↑01 Nov 2022, 15:40
.Urgent review of Mail Centre/Plant footprint accepting Mail Centre footprint needs to reduce.
^
Interesting, not heard that one up until now.
It is probably true given the gross overstaffing i see in processing, and then the dogged determination to bring in a load of agency on top of that.
Yeah shut a few down and amalgamate.
My guess is that any MC that can't at least squeeze in the smaller design of PSM will be at risk

I’m guessing here but does losing a weeks contractual pay on I’ll health retirement mean if you’ve been off sick for say 12 weeks that will be deducted from the 34 weeks. Also do you lose the 12 weeks pilon pay too ?

Yes, that just about sums up the mentality of some of the people at my place . They are not exactly the brightest bulbs in the box .HTPostman wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 07:05I tried to explain these points and the proposed new working practices to people in my office.
