2 weeks too late and money wasted with strikes when some of us knew that they will end up using ACAS sooner or later...

It is face saving time mostly for CWU; we are being prepared for the inevitable cancellation of strike actions that might impact Black Friday or Xmas. It was a bluff and a high stake one; a desperate move that has concentrated RM's minds but they still got their way:

They are going to ACAS and was not going to budge on no-srring pay without terms negotiations.

Wasted months!

If I remember rightly Simon Thompson said at the beginning....ACAS are not needed in this dispute, we don't need ACAS to settle this.

Crimea has been hit, Moskva - frigate hit in Black Sea, NATO weapons are pouring in with NATO mercenaries and newly Russians ex-Ukranian Regions continue to be shelled and some even overrun and taking over by Ukraine. Next: dirty nuclear bomb to be used by Ukraine...

They probably WON'T progress as long as the 'common denominator' is in charge. Answer.....remove him. Get someone in who is not like Rico or Thompson, and who has an understanding of the workforce and the industry. Boris

Think it's going to be a catch 22 at these talks. No sign of progress and an unwillingness by RM to budge will force the union to keep the strikes going, and RM insisting they won't agree anything unless the strikes are called off. Stalemate.

Yes, last Tues I believe, CWU sent a ltb about, some confusion as it was not worded very well.

I don't like the idea of a 2 year deal. After the government scrapped the plan to freeze energy prices , and the talk this will rise to £4K a year from April.

Like dave ward said he's never had to deal with a union he's clearly out of his depth to me he seems panicked,he also kept repeating the union didn't want to go to acas which we now know is untrue acas just had to set up the framework for the meeting which takes weeks.

If you thought you were getting a no-strings pay rise without compromise, you were deluded. There were always going to be concessions.
