Our driver who does large parcels has been told from tomorrow to go onto a walk as large parcels are being done by larger hub, he now has to do a walk instead and we are now lapsing another walk which is probably largest in office, I don’t know what’s going on but it seems like more work constantly and can see utter chaos coming up when we are all cutting off
So are they making each walk take out all the Tracked for the walk, no matter how big or heavy the items are?
No apparently all large going to local hub and rest we deliver

In theory you won't get any large, in practice you'll get some

Presumably the parcels won't be checked for redirections, I know it's rare but It does happen, we've had it crop up at Xmas when the large ones have been sent straight out the door without going to the duty first.
RON now has the facilities to check for redirections, it's a right pain if you get one as you now have to check the addressee hasn't moved and 9 times out of 10, not surprisingly, they haven't moved.

In that case any of the "Some" get sent back to the hub.

Royal Mail is spending hundreds of millions of pounds to put PSMs in every mail centre. I completely agree with this.

But the ones I've seen can handle pretty big parcels as well. What's the point of sending stuff from all over the UK to this one place? And then sending it back again? The savings made don't seem to really equal the new costs occurred.

There is only one way i can see this making sense and that is if we're on an all out strike. More executive action coming shortly to force that ?? :evil/mad

I'm guessing that for us anything that comes in on a york will be deemed to be a large item and anything that comes in a sleeve will be deemed to be a small item

Wouldn't it be possible that management may expect mailcentre staff to be slightly more professional going forward?

They are allegedly sinking a great deal of time and money into this, I'm sure they're not going to just sit back and watch processing screw it up because they can't tell the difference between a large parcel and a small parcel.

The way that small and large, Tracked and non-Tracked are always mixed together has been raised multiple times yet nothing has ever been done. I can't see management doing anything about it. I'm guessing that it's down to available time and staffing levels on early and late shifts

It's probably already been raised at that level.

If they want the small and large, Tracked and non-Tracked properly separated out then they're going to have to put more hours in and not just send absolutely everything straight to the PSMs in MCs that have them

Apparently RM are shipping in about 300 managers to the parcel hubs, plus any strike breakers whose DO has been closed due to strike action. The Manpower Agency Staff, that are have been booked, have been told NOT to cross picket lines are are believed to be used more for helping to clear the aftermath. It's going to be one Bloody Great Clusterfuck!

Chatting to the Area Rep he says The Managers are already furiously making up excuses to avoid going out on delivery, such as "I haven't been cleared to drive that type of vehicle" and "I've got a bad leg so I can't go out on delivery" :Boo hoo!

According to the Manager's own Union statement (available elsewhere on RMC) they've also been given a raft of reasons NOT to go out on deliveries as well. I'd like to turn up to work at one of these hubs just to watch the chaos .... Do you think they'd sell tickets? :cuppa
