Not judging people who have their own reasons for not picketing as some will know people who can get them a job for a days work to pay bills, Or the fact that some people would spend time with family kid's and a day out or looking after a relative or just resting. But the one thing we can all do is withhold our labour for the days for which we all as a democratic union voted for.

Vast majority of our office will strike.

Dunno how many will picket, transport costs etc on top of pay loss you can't blame people for not turning up.

I live fairly local so will picket at least for a bit. Take some warm pasties down at lunchtime or summat.

Surely people concerned about loss of pay can make up for it by taking extra bags after the strike days as ot. Might be frowned upon but not as bad as strike breaking surely.

Most of the agency workers are in place now with a whole new fleet of vans so if you do not see them in your office the office will be locked up till the day after the strike. Could all go to the hub offices where the agency workers are doing OUR WORK OUR JOB but it will cost a lot when people will not have a lot or even enough.

Listen to woodie, be very afraid of the consequences if we fail to defeat the evil upon us. This really is the crux ,we lose to RM hierarchy, without bargaining for less severe terms and conditions it's the end of the job as we all know it, follow the union to the end please we all need to come together to fight for our future terms and conditions. Power to us the real workers of a great company Royal Mail, ....................

It seems to me that the small amounts of apathy that I am hearing to strike action is coming from the newer employees and the overtime chasers . May I remind these good people that without the support and strength from the union and its members over the past decades then we would not have the current pay and terms and conditions that we enjoy today.
I'm striking, but I can see where the apathy comes from.

You don't want to work Sundays? Nor do I, wasn't in the ad or interview and now I'm on one in 3.
Don't want your hours pushed back? Nor do I, but at any time the COM can put me on the 12-6pm LAT shift
No sick pay (originally told it's for your first year, but recently told it's a year from the start of your permanent contract, so 18-24 months after starting depending on how many 6 monthers you had... Not 100% sure which is true)
Pay?! It's great if I get the full time hours but overtime depends on what section I'm dumped in that day, and some months I'm bringing home less than I did working in a pet shop.

We are supposed to be in it together, but they've already cultivated a multi-tier workforce. From a selfish point of view, the more people working Sundays the less Sundays I have to work, and seeing the two guys who told me I was "pathetic" for stressing about picking my year 1 child up from school (as I couldn't afford the after school club) practically weeping at the prospect of late Saturdays due to season tickets brings me a small amount of delight

Till anything happens no one knows what will happen if 99% did not turn up for work it would be a success if 50% turned up for work it would be very bad.

My office will be picketting, probably the Unit Rep and a few local staff. :thumbup

Due to the stupid way RM recruit to offices nowhere near where you live, I would understand those that live further away not making the picket line.

I believe the majority will not come into work anyway, we're nearly a completely CWU office :thumbup We do however have one particular guy who always comes in on Strike days (because he knows there's no work) despite being a CWU memeber and telling everyone he votes YES!

But then he is an A Grade Anchor! The thing that surprises me is a lot of people still talk to him the following day .... I'm not one of them, haven't spoken to him since he worked the last Strike. :cuppa
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)
