Cycle to work everyday and I bought the carrera kracken on this scheme. Would never have bought a bike like this on my own,it's a pleasure to have such a light weight and up to date bike. The scheme is a no brainer if you want a good quality bike.

I am thinking of doing this when I get a transfer to my local office in a few weeks.

Would it be silly to ask for this as soon as I move there or should I do it straight away?

Found out my local (decent) bike shop accepts the Halfords voucher. He was surprised to hear our max is £500 though as most are £1000.

Pretty annoying as there's nothing I want under £500, and even more annoying we cant top it up with our own money.

yup,the voucher doesnt change. so you get less choices every year,as £500 is worth less in real terms

My agreement came today and I've gone ahead with it. Luckily this local shop above will let me top up the voucher, he claims because the scheme is limited to £1000, but it's just RM limiting us to £500, he can let me top up without tarnishing the agreement.

I'm not sure he is right
technically RM can demand the bike back at the end of the agreement
so would you be happy with that?
also there are rules regarding VAT and final value payment(RM seem to be covering this so far)
so an increase in purchase price would affect that

Agree with that bud 100%. However, a local bike shop is more than likely to process the £500 voucher as it is then take the extra £££'s off you (no questions asked).

My current agreement ends in the next few months, and the local bike shop has already told me if there's anything I fancy which is more than the £500 agreement, we'll come to some agreement.

That's all well and good as long as Royal Mail don't decide to take my bike at the end of the agreement.

As of yet I don't know anyone that has been in a situation whereby they've had to return one.

How long did it take RM to issue the voucher? I applied on Sat 14th this month and have read somewhere RM are quite quick at processing the application? I do presume that this scheme is also open to PF people using the RM login and pass that I found on this website?

Takes about 2 weeks from when you first submit the application to receiving the letter of collection

I applied on the 2/07/2012 and im still waiting. Reckon its the flaming Tour de France and Olympics. So everybody and nan wants a bike
