Whatever, it takes the heat off Corbyn in this thread anyway, which I suppose is the reason for the sudden change of tack.

Sorry but I feel that Labour supporters should put their everything into supporting Corbyn.
At the next election he will most surely lose BUT at least the Labour party will be working together
as a whole rather than split and divided. It is the least messy solution. If Corbyn gets kicked out
now then the whole grass roots labour support will turn their backs on Smith and he will get defeated
at the next election and the party will be split and it will take a lifetime for Labour to recover.
The only way to keep the party is vote Corbyn and after the election vote in the new leader.
Labour is imploding. How much and for how long will be decided on who is the leader until the next GE.

Though not the train I don't fancy sitting on the floor and in any case I couldn't afford it.

Problem is no one wants to work with him and even if he wins re election who will he appoint as his ministers?

People who like him have no experience of front bench politics. None of the corbynistas seem to grasp that with the PLP refusing his leadership, or lack of it, hence the vote of no confidence they still won't accept it if he wins the leadership contest. They seem to think that the PLP will have a revelation and suddenly see the light.

That question will be answered with a general election and the selection process before they will be a candidate for the PLP.

I don't think she'll wait 4 years. After the shambles of the leadership election, I think Theresa May will call an election much sooner. I know I would and pretty much guarantee at least 2 terms in office if not 3 or 4. The Tories have a relatively united front, look how they dealt with their leadership contest, sailed through it and full steam ahead. Theresa May didn't have to wait for resignations from the cabinet she sacked them. I think she will be a good leader pretty much in the vein of Maggie and Jezza has no chance at the despatch box, not of course that he had before against a polished Cameron.

I agree that May will be considering an early election, possibly a snap election this October after the Labour leadership result, or in 2017.
But she can't be sure of winning, there are still deep rifts in the Conservative Party over Brexit and the triggering of Article 50.
And with the Fixed Term Parliament provision she will have to get a two thirds majority to dissolve Parliament early and there is a strong possibility she wouldn't get that, unless the dissident plp vote for it. Corbyn has said he would be for an early GE.
