I suppose that means me....oh well.

Look back on this thread to the early part, roughly March 27 to about April 3. It's all been covered before so not much point in continual rehashing. "There's none so blind.." as they used to say.

Oh yeah TBT, worthwhile you having a look too, just to refresh your memory on the concept of "belittling"..

Probably not, and apparently I wouldn't be alone in that...
No, but does that make it right, for you to belittle others?
Or should we be trying to stop people on BOTH sides from doing so?

I was making the point that in this thread, "belittling" has been constant; it's a little late after this length of time to mention it now.
That's a good point. I notice, that it is still going on. But why descend to the level of those who can't put a reasoned argument together. You have already shown that you have a good argument to put forward. So why not simply rely on it, instead of insulting people?

I think you accept Royal Mails argument and you have that right - I don't and I have that right.
Not RM's argument, the evidence of my own eyes. Did you not read or follow the thread?
I think we all did. But where in this Thread, is there any evidence to contradict TBT's argument?
Hes not saying that your figures are wrong. Merely, that Mail volumes don't APPEAR, to have dropped. This Thread is about what people BELIEVE, not what is right from a statistics point of view.

So it seems, but ultimately we're here to discuss, and so shouldn't the subject under discussion is based on an accurate premise?
True. But there is more than one source of information, to create a premise. Apart from the points already put forward from Delivery Posties. There's also the amount of Mail being sent around the Country. I work in an RDC, and have seen little to suggest a drop in the amount of Mail going through the System. However, I have noticed a big drop in what goes through the Segs. Which (in my opinion) probably explains the difference between the figures, and the perception.

Of course I could be wrong. I only know what's happening where I am. But surely you can appreciate that peoples perceptions, are just as important as any statistics, can't you?

You have only pointed out that there are less LETTERS. What about packets, magazines, etc.? If someone is delivering more Mail on their round. The logical conclusion, is that Mail volumes are increasing.

:arrrghhh No, that's not a logical conclusion. More heavier, bulkier items to deliver doesn't equal more mail being processed, and, as Pinstripe(?) said earlier, walks being amalgamated etc means more mail for the remainder too, therefore the idea that "my bag's heavier therefore volumes haven't dropped" isn't realistic.
Another good point. But why didn't you point that out in the first place, instead of belittling opposing views?

Perhaps your unit is experiencing a reduction in volume, but of course if in your position, a DO cannot extrapolate from his Units experience that volumes are not falling, is it fair for us to accept your position.
Don't really understand that lot, but I can see tech stats from every MC in the country, and regardless of what any DO posties feel, RM just ain't handling as many letters as it was. Cut it any way you like but that's the bottom line.
What don't you understand?
He's merely pointing out, that just because your DO is experiencing a drop in volume. It doesn't mean that every DO in the Country is. You're (in his opinion) falling into the same trap, that you are accusing him of falling victim to.

Don't work in a DO and never have done. In fact, I haven't based my statements on any one location, but RM Processing in general, so I refute that.
I don't work in a DO either. I work in Logistics, and therefore see the Mail being shipped round the Country, first hand. Admittedly, it's only in one Region. But it's hard for people to disregard what they see with their own eyes. Even in the face of cold hard facts. Particularly, when there is some confusion about the figures.

Hopefully, you will be in a position to tell us once and for all: Are the figures based on what we actually process, or what is actually delivered by us?
And do the figures include all types of Mail?

Come on K979aaa. You're hardly helping to sort this argument out. TBT has already tried to get Tman to stop resorting to insults. And yet, you seem to be doing your best to rekindle the arguments, instead of finding a proper counterarugment. :d'oh! :arrrghhh

Thank you for pointing that out - however at the time we attempted to address virtual bullying which was creeping into the discussion. Maybe not on this particular thread, but certainly in general. However, since the forum started up again Postman has asked all members to ensure that its does not degenrate into the same level it was before, and just in case anyone missed the annoucement, or perhaps did not bother to read it here it is quoted:
The new rules and posting guidelines were always going to come in when we changed over to the updated board.
They are here for a reason, non negotiable, and affects ALL members of the site.
Me,the MODS and many members were not happy with the way some users were using the board so things have to change.

We will now strongly enforce these rules, because, previously some posts went over the top, and became, at times, very boring especially with regard to certain subjects. Many of you will agree with them, some won't which is unfortunate, but this is the way RMC is now going to be..
Anything that went before the hack is over and finished with. We are in essence a new board trying to keep the spirit and feel of the forum as before, but some things need to change.

Therefore I feel as a MEMBER I was justified in addressing what I saw as a potential problem if you don't think I was right then please complain to Postman and he can address it as the final arbitrator of disputes on here. I am trying to fair but as they say "You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all the people all of the time" and if anyone thinks I am being unfair they can always post a message in a thread or use the "Report Post" icon.

k979aaa please I ask one member not to appear to belittle members and then you go one stage further and make fun of a members login name :no no

As always teebs has made a good point, and there's no point as he says bringing up old posts, things are different now and no doubt you've seen the odd edited post.

We're all adults ffs,and we're still lax on here, dont abuse us being lenient!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
