So are you a true "Objectivist" or do you just have a big book of quotes.

Ayn Rand was a huge advocate of the personal ego i woudn't jump aboard that ship.

Ethical egoism or egotism (also called simply egoism is the normative ethical position that moral agents ought to do what is in their own self-interest

She was also full of sh*t :cuppa

Oh I do enjoy a good quote but I'm a fan of the band 'Rush' and Ayn Rand influenced the lyics of one cool album in particular '2112'. Any self respecting fan has read the main three books, Anthem, Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged...give Anthem a go, it's only a hundred pages long. You take any positives you can find from reading a varied selection, objectivist my arse. :) I admire the sentiment wthin the quote though.

GOroot: Ah, but I have no confidence in or respect for any so-called 'leader' any more...can you really beg to differ? Hand on heart?

As if Crozier etc was thought of our leader anyway? must try harder.

Rush... :hmmmm

The Trees

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There was trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.

"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

Ayn Rand was a evil cow.
Interestingly, despite her general disdain for humanity, there were people she seemed to admire greatly, such as William Edward Hickman, whose credo, "What is good for me is right," she described in her Journals as, "The best and strongest expression of a real man's psychology I have heard." But Hickman was no simple expositor of personal greed and self-interest; no mere modern day libertarian; no pedestrian practitioner of excessive self-love. No indeed. He was a sociopathic murderer. In 1927 he kidnapped a 12-year old girl from a school in Los Angeles by the name of Marian Parker, chopped off her legs, cut our her internal organs, drained all of her blood and then spread parts of her body all over the city.

Of Hickman, this sick murderer, Rand had almost nothing but positive things to say.
Take any positives from that go on Ogg.She was a evil cow.

To be a dick because it benefits you is immoral. To be a dick for its own sake, because your moral philosophy is "always be the biggest dick you can possibly be" (as Rand did) is evil.

If "always crush and destroy everyone that it is within your power to crush and destroy" isn't evil, I'd like to know what is!

I'm sorry but I really thought someone may have actually read some of the damn things I was trying to say at the beginning of this thread.

You are aware that you are being wound up aren't you? It's my petty spiteful way of attacking the ridiculous out dated thinking that passes itself for a postie these days. The obvious fact that is I am not the only one who questions the behaviour of a lot of people here.

I have been verbally abused on numerous occasion for my very open and honest attempt at discussing my reasons for crossing the line. I also posted that because my own reasons are purely financial I would consider going in on my day off to compensate for the loss of income...and I did just that. I haven't crossed the picket line for f*ck's sake!

I haven't picketed though as I really do not agree with this strike this time around and I am entitled to say this...I can express this opinion anywhere apart from a postie forum, oh the irony.
The majority of people here disgust me with their attitude and anger at anyone who appears to be thinking for themselves, for shame.

Now next week might be a bugger though...not required for o/t  :Very Happy
