Don't know if it's just down to roadworks affecting the Network lorries but we seem to be running larger batches on wave 2 of sequencing recently

We had a 17 tonne lorry at our DO one morning this week, just to see if it would fit on the loading bay. Makes you think there is certainly planning going on behind the scenes even with no agreement reached with the CWU yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if every DO that can't handle 17 tonne lorries from the MCs will close within the next 3 years, either merging into another DO or into a new build which can handle 17 tonne lorries.

Looks like the closure of Newcastle Skynet is already having an affect, sequencing batches on wave 2 are getting bigger, the % sequenced on wave 1 is dropping, probably getting towards 60% at times, will be interesting to see if it drops down to 50%. DOs might have to get used to getting a few boxes sent manual where either the work doesn't come through off the IMPs/iLSMs early enough or we don't have enough time to run it all (20mins allocated per batch on wave 2)

later starts i hear?

ultimate failure of the business, walks are hard to cover now try cover them when they expect postmen/women to be working later, some half assed suit who dont know what the hell happens and the daily struggle in DO's to cover wealks.

there be no goodwill nor overtime hounds signing for/ helping dom that will lead them to be working in the middle of the night!

post is expected early , how many times the public say to you "oh your late today"

things like sd 1pms will be even more of a hinderence, later start time you say, later out the office, well that would mean sd 1pm's will be have to done first, so drive around for a 1hour doing those, now how they expect you to do a walk in the allocated time span.................cut off's and work being brought back.

things are definatly going downhill for us workers, and i think we will have to go on strike nationwide to get real T&C's instead of what they want to implement.

Witha rentention rate of 5%% they cant even hold onto staff yet they want to make those that have endured more worse off.

2 rounds on lighter days hahahahahahhahah do you know how many miles that is even without delivering post

these suits need to be sendt to a do in every borough put on the hardest walks that are unachieveable even by experienced postmen and see what time they will complete that said duty an d how there ideas about the job will change and give us post people a bit more respect, its not a easy job and we endure crap on a day to day basis.

how do they get away with designing duties that cannot be completed in the duty time.........................im not talking a few mins over im talkikng 2 hours over.....

its a sad sad state of affairs.

Everybody whining about everything. The reason is all changing is because of people doing their own way, trying to outsmart everyone, thinking of how to get sick abusing the stage system to have extra holidays, running around like crazy on their 2 -3 h walk so they go home fast and then complaining each day about not having the time.If you are tired to do this job just quit it.

Plus your 10 min vehicle check and the 30 min weekly WTLL and the 10 min daily huddle :cuppa

Most part timers only start at 9am. Long gone are the days when 9am specials are actually done on delivery. In our office, a lino usually takes them out. Well worth the money if it's a rural and a 40 min round trip for one letter.

Most rurals already have start times in line with a finish time of 4pm. As far as I know, that's the latest they are allowed to plan a finish time.........for now.

We were told management plan in our office this morning. None of this is to be implemented until AFTER issue of pensions is sorted.

- Cut the one remaining driver duty and put this onto current walks
- Cut Saturday attendance by 30 minutes and add 15 minutes onto Wednesday and 15 minutes onto Thursday (this is adding time onto the beginning of the day, not the end)
- Place two remaining HCT walks to shared van duty
- Staff will be asked to divide their duty into 11 sections. This is for lapsing and absorbing purposes.
- A full office revision of duties.

Will be interesting to hear views on these.

EDIT: should mention, all these are to be done in phases, not at the same time.
