Well this will be interesting RM have just added another hour on to most deliveries, when you look at how much time it takes to either take a picture or write a 739 also the amount of re-deliveries we will have will sky rocket.
The callers office wouldn't be able to hold all the parcels coming back either.

So no more leaving packages/parcels in "safe" places unless nominated by the customer, even when they do that it's usually one for their old address where they had a front porch etc. Plus we now have to photograph even Tracked items which fit though letter boxes, I assume including COVID kits, how much longer will this add to each day?

You already know the answer is 'no additional time'. Pick any number: this'll add 10% to delivery spans. Guess what? Mail's down 10% this week!

Maybe retina scan, bloood sample and a video of them holding the item declaring their name, address, date and time.

Even on the (many) days when i have to cut off this will add so much more time (and stress) having to whizz round delivering all the tracked for the rest of the loops and will result in even more standard letters and parcels not being delivered.

Well, this photo capture of all tracked will be interesting for those doing LAT and those on rural routes.

I can see an awful lot of cards being left as no one will dare risk their job, as most of the safe places designated are not safe, like an enclosed porch or shed/greenhouse where there are none or the classic any secure location.

Resulting in things taking a lot longer and redeliveries will increase dramatically, meaning Simon will be complaining again that we are being negative

Not had any training in my just less than a year on the job. Can we officially deliver photo parcels to neighbours?

Done it a few times and as it’s a bit more of an inconvenience for the neighbour it’s been awkward and they seemed a bit annoyed every time…

Id never do this. I feel awkward/bad enough knocking a neighbour’s door asking if they'd take in a parcel. So much so that i tend not to except for certain circumstances. I would never knock a neighbour knowing id have to then take a photo too.

You have an in-flight request it doesn't really matter if the safe place is secure or not as the customer has taken responsibility, unless the safe place chosen is hopelessly insecure. If they haven't requested a safe place then they'll have to be 739'd regardless.

LAT's are interesting as don't we presently offer to re-deliver them the following day, if we do and the customer's are out again they'll still have to be 739'd, so the customer will have to wait another day of their "urgent" parcel delivery.

By chance I delivered a rural LAT today, the customer had a clear sign saying "Leave parcels in parcel box if out" they won't be too happy next month when they come home to find the parcel are no longer being left in the box w/o any prior warning of RM's change of stance.

Insane idea. Wait until it rains and your PDA wont respond in the wet. All this seems geared for the RM to adandon the USO. No way do we have the time to deliver letters and take a picture of every packet we deliver.

The LATs that are undelivered get sent back to the local MC and then the local MC sends them out to the relevant DO as they become normal Tracked items
