Very heavy day so took me time and for once will be claiming OT. First time in about 3 months but as sun was shining and it was still cool thought I might as well stay out - they will pay for it though. :Very Happy

My day off today - cleared all my council tax bills yesterday even though we were given a time span for them, so had a 99.9% call rate, but I know my day off cover will return the favour and leave me a clean sheet for tomorrow.
Saw two of the lads passing me at the bus stop on the way to their walks at 11:00am so it must have been a really shite day again - if these mail volumes "fall" any further we will have to put more walks in.

Heavy day on one of my least favourite walks.

Starts off light and gets heavier and heavier. Last bag would have weighed 23kg.

Split it in 3 and took me time as i was knackered.

Not too bad today, quite a few flats, managed to get finished on time. Had a bit of trouble getting into 3 blocks of flats due to the call centre at the end of the line refusing to let me in as I would'nt give them the names & addresses to every flat that had mail, gave them the password but they still would'nt let me in, so just told them that I don't have the time to f**k about and the stuff won't get delivered. Went and collected my cycle to work bike, ordered it in December! Got home to find out the power had been out since 1.10pm and its only just come back on, so I've had a cold, hungry, boring evening! :Boo hoo!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I can't believe you have to deal with such idiots k66yla, hope you had time to write "refused entry" on the items so the customers can have a go at them.
At the blocks I deliver to, which are run by a housing association and are part secure sheltered accommodation for elderly and disabled people and part tower block for more able ones ,the warden and company couldn't be more helpful as they know how important the mail is for these people. They have supplied entry codes, electronic keys and have even agreed placement of one of our rare "pringle" bag drop boxes on the premises. They know posties are another pair of eyes where vulnerable customers are concerned and are happy to support us in doing our job.

Surely if you had given the details that's a breach of privacy and may even be illegal under the data protection act. I would have refused just like you.

Busy day today. Cleared the last of the council tax bills. Plenty of packets and 3 recorded deliveries. Had to pouch off 1 recorded delivery letter. Warm and dry, but dull day.

Had some daft bint on the phone today alleging that someone within RM had opened her mail and now has her Virgin Banking account details.

Firstly, she went out and apprehended the postie and accused her of opening her mail. Postie pointed out that she hadn't even noticed it was damaged and had she noticed before she'd bagged off (she doesn't prep the round) she'd have put it into a plastic bag. The woman was claiming that it had therefore been opened between the office and her house. Postie advised it was probably ripped by the elastic band from the bundle or even off the letterbox as she just put a load of A4 stuff thru.

Secondly, crazy lady phones office and demands that a full investigation is carried out to find out who opened the envelope. I advised her we have at least 50 members of staff in the office in the morning so it could've been any one of them that's handled it and before that, it goes thru the MC so anybody there could've handled it but it's unlikely it was actually opened by somebody.

That's not good enough, she wants to know exactly who's opened her mail and now has her account details... :arrrghhh

Anyway, she's given the mail back to the postie (!) and now I've had a look, it does look like elastic band damage as it's got a rip in the middle of the seal coming inwards as if an elastic band has cut into it and the corner is ripped as if the band has caught a loose flap of the seal and ripped it.

Left it for the DOM to deal with on Monday but he probably won't do anything and this woman will be back on the phone again kicking off.

I was thinking that the first part of the song "No Surprises" by Radiohead was very appropriate to how I feel about RM at the moment.

"A heart that's full up like a landfill,
a job that slowly kills you, (the amount of people that have had heart attacks or end up with long term injuries in unbelievable)
bruises that won't heal. (after you've fallen over thanks to the ice skating shoes-I've been referred for physio now!)
You look so tired-unhappy, (That was me last week)
bring down the government,
they don't, they don't speak for us.
" (Very apt)

Hmmmmm....
