Totally disagree rather fight for my and our terms than be dictated to and lose rather than never of tried to defend those rights given unto us to defend by people who gave blood sweat and tears to do so and some cases their own lives!banner18 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 16:31So the standing argument is technically our contracts could be ripped up, but practically they won’t be.
So why bother with another ballot, let’s just ride across the Tory anti union laws with a wing and a prayer?
These laws are there to assist fat cat employers and no amount of 70s union sentiments about standing together is going to change it.
I personally think they probably won’t fire and rehire but still ask why the hell we are risking it for the sake of one day.
Why in hell take an unnecessary risk, they could’ve just called 22nd and 23rd and stayed in the window?
This CEO is absolutely ruthless and a proven asset stripper.
This is not a normal dispute that will end with a thrashed out agreement, one side is going to be victorious and I’d prefer keep battling rather than give RM the possibility of smashing our union which fire and rehire will achieve in one fell swoop.

If they try to sack us or put us on some 12 month warning we just say we were sick on the 24th. There's zero point in phoning in sick on a strike day when they aren't paying us for being sick on strike days.

They were always going to do that anyway ,when you sign the new one it doesn't stop us striking ,we carry on if we are going down lets take them with us or lets make it as hard for them to make any money .LouBarlow wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 08:56They won’t sack people but it gives them the perfect opportunity to tear up our current contracts and offer us new ones or the door i.e. the CEO’s goal from the start. Wow, it's gone from them definitely sacking us, to 100% them tearing up our contracts and forcing us to sign new ones. I think we're letting it run away from us again. Honestly, it just shows how beaten down this workforce is, from this CEO.

Yes but the my point is that the office I work in was closed on all strike days but 1 so the 12 weeks won’t be up on the 24th.Caesar wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 15:54Martin Walsh posted that the 12 week protected period for the change ballot started on 30th September, I think the earlier strikes where for the pay ballot.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 09:57Ours was closed too and I suspect the union knew about this caveat.
It’s a total legal minefield and I did wonder why no more strikes were announced and know we know why.
Remember rm saying if you worked on strike days it would be at a mail centre/parcel hub.
There are announcements from rm stating offices would be shut too.
Everyone relax.

I can’t believe people are still saying this so let me spell it out for you….. it doesn’t matter if you as an individual go in on the 24th or not , the same rules would apply.post6675 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 12:39Im not in the union and i will have to go in , absolutely not worth the risk at allrambo1 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 18:59That's another thing to consider for some of us, what if you're not in the CWU, would you risk not going in? I'm not risking it, plus I'm guessing there's gonna be naf all to do anyway as it's all clear they tell us.manchesterpunk wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 15:52And what if Royal Mail do tear up 128,000 contracts legally on the 24th December? Then offer new ones when we return?
I’m genuinely thinking about what to do on the 24th, one thing is for sure, when we’ve had all week to strike without repercussion is that I am coming out of the union. f***ing idiots.

We are not beaten down the CEO has a lot of questions to answer and not a big enough board to write the answers on.

Good post.Minischoles wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 10:58This is the reality of the power of a Union, even after decades of New Labour and Tory laws that have undermined their power - the power still lies with a mass membership, because Royal Mail might have their own agenda but they're not going to risk the nuclear option of mass sackings when it can so easily backfire on them.![]()

If we are all sacked tomorrow surely we can sue the CWU.
I am sure one of the legal beagles on here could start the class action.

Just to be clear it's not a decision that was easy to make but I certainly don't want to offer them an easy way out to get rid of me. I can't believe we are in this situation tbh.ad/ab wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 20:04you crack on , the majority of us who we be at home with our families tomorrow will have exactly the same contract as you .anirtak319 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 19:53I'm in tomorrow too much at risk not to be. But listen if everyone had that attitude we would be all back in the stone age we work for a company who make in terms of the UK pound this
£12.3 BILLION
And the CEO simon gets £754,000 and £142,000 plus 2 million shares in RM
Do you as an employee think this is just and fair?
While they employ others on £20 an hour and expect you to work Sundays for no extra and start 3 hours later and have reduced sick pay and all so complete till finnish even if 2 in the morning plus a host of other things?

CALM DOWN EVERYONE
You've been strong all through this long dispute, why start to wobble now.
All those that think they can't Strike because they're not in the Union .... all those that are trying to work out if they've personally been on Strike for the required period .... all those that think they'd escape any reprecussions because they didn't Strike ... or their Office was locked ..... You need to stop stresssing!
Ignore the Trolls, Strike tomorrow and enjoy that extra day with your family and friends.
This is probably the best break most of us have had at Christmas. No Falling asleep in front of the TV, or being too knackered to play with kids.
I'll be getting a real warm feeling thinking about all those Managers having to work this Christmas Eve instead of sneaking off early, when we'd still be out there delivering Christmas. Enjoy this Christmas .
