if vrs are not offered in the next 6 to 12 months they never will be then us older posties may have decisions to make personally I would like more job shares to be created or 3 day weeks to be offered as may make the job easier into retirement

I gave up waiting! Was offered EVR a few years ago. Its was blocked by the union! In many ways they did me a favour as once I started to get NRA60 pension I was able to save more. No sign of any 3 day weeks and when one was offered to a senior colleague it was only for a month as he was suffering from stress. He's left now as well!

Agreed, me and other colleagues have approached different DOM's on various occasions over the years to enquire about the possibility of job share and never got anywhere with it

I don't understand why they're always so resistant to the idea... 2 posties splitting a 6 day duty between them seems very simple and means that duty doesn't require a day off cover.

Someone on here a few months back claimed a couple of posties in their office had made informal inquiries to their DOM with a view to VR and had been offered and took £20k straight off the bat... seems implausible to me as the correct VR selection processes didn't appear to have been followed and also given most offices are being run on a less than skeleton staff.

VR isn't something you can sign up for like a golden handshake retirement option, the office in question has to be restructuring and downsizing it's staffing requirements. Most of the time they accomplish this through people naturally leaving the job then not replacing them. VRs are handed out as a last resort, so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for one they're extremely expensive to the business.
