I get the feeling that the CWU aren't that bothered about this bonus. Why would they? Royal Mail's original intention was to reward staff who worked for a very specific period of time and £200 is not exactly a life changing sum of money.

However, I would be angry if I had to go off on sick on the 3rd May and didn't get a bonus - but someone who was off sick from the 10th May for two weeks still got the bonus. Especially as the virus is still at large. You can't say that the pandemic was worse between 16th March - 10th May because it hit different parts of the country at different times and at different rates.

I don't know much about the Equality Act in Royal Mail but it didn't surprise me that the company are to calculate the bonus payments based on 'contracted duty hours'. I wonder how many part-timers will get the full bonus even though many of them had to put up with evening deliveries?? Why would any part-timer want to be involved a Union when they sh*ft them like this??

If you were self isolating you weren't in one of the front line trenches...

If you're using military analogies surely those self-isolating had already taken a bullet and those that made it through the war unscathed were the lucky few.

I mean what exactly was the danger out there? Surely it was catching the virus, having the virus, self-isolating with the virus?

Unless you think the payment was for the extra workload in which case rurals and business duties should really get bugger all if we're being honest.

The principle should matter more than the money but the Union are more concerned with building bridges with Royal Mail right now.

Any equality laws or indirect discrimination are probably going to take a back seat right now

I’m struggling to understand the wording in the statement. I’m on 25 hours, but since lockdown have averaged 39 hours a week (14 hours overtime). I don’t have my own duty.

Totally baffled. Do I get 25 hours equivalent, 39 hours equivalent automatically or 39 hours if the DOM can be bothered to tick the right box?

"Additional hours worked on scheduled attendance and overtime does not count towards the payment for part time or full time employees."

That's pretty black and white. You'll get 25 hours worth as you're only getting FT with booking overtime.

I would appreciate it if members could keep this thread civil, a few posts seem to be bear baiting others for no valid reason. If the thread goes off-topic because people can discuss like adults then to save me more work, and the blood pressure of others, we will lock the thread from dicussion but keep the LTB for information purposes.

It’s not quite black and white to me though, I struggle with a lot of the terminology like scheduled attendance which still doesn’t make sense to me, pressure overtime, meal relief (what’s wrong with simply ‘break’), WTL (call it training like 99.99% of businesses do), PHG, OPG, BFG. I often find Royal Mail use real gobbledygook terminology when I wish they’d just put it in simple terms.

PHG doesn't exist, that grade was axed over 10 years ago. I've never heard of BFG
