No mail in cars.
How are they delivering the mail? Lightweight Trolley? HCT? Carring Bags?

Is the van having to come back with more work for them?

What happens with the PDA? Is it brought out by the van and then collected?

I misunderstood you Mailman. I take it your "Car Drivers" are just meeting up out at the Start Point of the Delivery? There's obviously going to be hundreds of different solutions to this situation.

We are using spare vans to "Split" the Van Share Duties into two, with both Partners just delivering their own loops, I was assuming the "Car Drivers" would be doing the same. :hmmmm

As for returning to the office ... I suppose the DOM could insist on Everyone signing out at the office? Ours has used H&S reasons in the past: He wants to know if anyones broken down (mechanically), or had an accident. I'd be surprised if he let anyone get away with carving 3 hours off a days work. :cuppa

They are that desperate for mail to get delivered and keep indoor numbers down that they are allowing car drivers who don't drive for RM, plus those who don't drive full stop to start and finish their day in the street. Regardless of contracted hours.
Everyone else has to work their full hours - which I have no problem with - but you'll see a flaw in this plan.
Just trying to clarify the situation mailman. As I said there's going to be hundreds of different solutions to every office's problems. :hmmmm

As is usual with Royal Mail ... whatever you choose do it's all OK with the DOM (IF he doesn't have to pay you any Overtime) ... UNTIL something goes wrong.... Then it's your fault. :cuppa
