With 2000 extra drops you should be looking for extra deliveries not absorbing them. That's if pegasus allows it which I doubt. Our office must of had that many extra calls bulit in the last 10 years but still we have to save 5% each and every year. RM want to save more and more meaning extra work for everybody and they see Pegasus as the way to do this. I just don't think any office will be spared. I'd be interested to know if any office in the country has had duties put back in under the Pegasus revisions.Big Daz wrote:The members in my office are very cynical, but with 2000 houses going up losing deliveries is impossible. Might be some absorbing of new houses but thats likely to be it.

We're due for a full revision in the next few months, probably using Georoute or whatever they're calling it. So has anyone got some concrete tips or facts that we can use to our advantage. Both our Area rep and the rep we deal with (not got 1 in our office) think Georoute is the dogs.
Our office has a large number of rural deliveries (2nd largest in the country if I remember correctly) and we don't have any flat deliveries in the office, even our towns are up and down dale :)
Any help gladly received.

I found out today there is NO national agreement on pegasus and from previous experience and what a few guys on here are saying stay well away from it.It is a very dangerous tool in managements hand and will annihilate jobs in most offices, may be ok in a rural but in a town or city you would be wise not to use it.A tip for anyone who does use it,the higher the call rate and the slower the walking speed, the more walks come out of it.trythat wrote:We're due for a full revision in the next few months, probably using Georoute or whatever they're calling it. was told by the guy who did it in our office speed is set at 5.3 km/hour.not sure of the call rate though.prob lower than the norm.whether this speed was applied or not who knows.
it does not account for walkways which may have been cordened off so what may look quicker on paper will end up taking longer in real terms.that being said doesnt account for cutting over grass (not advised anyway).so time might be able to be made there.
tested about a dozen walks and if unhappy bits were changed here and there based on the person whose walk it is raises the concerns.but then anything saved was passed to someone else.in a heavy office like ours they still made cutbacks on the amounts of duties so obvious the reason for georoute/pegasus is to save hours and to use equalising of walks as the excuse for this.
back to my original question which doesnt seem to be asked i have lost my walk under georoute would i be given priority in any future first selection that may come up or is tough luck?

Union is very close to an agreement on georoute that is why they have trained up area delivery reps and are in the process of training unit reps. There are two outstanding issues:- call rates.... RM are looking at 82%, union want it slightly higher, and walking speed... union want an agreement on terrain affecting walking speed.
I have heard of offices having duties added after being georouted!

2 stops a minute flexed according to housing type (flats, houses with virtually no front garden or drive way and houses with massive drive ways should in theroy lead to flexing up and down of this figure.
88% call rate is the aggrement for CB and PE postcode areas which i feel is reasonable.
In my office all deliveries have been checked over a entire week in order to flag up any that are dramatically different. This has been done twice so we can build up a good and accurate picture of the call rate for deliveries in the office.

Re: Advice On Georoute
In our last revision, where a few rounds and nights went, and we weren't having a repick, what we decided was that when the duties that were available to pick, the people who lost their jobs had first pick, regardless of seniority. If as in our case where by more than one person lost their jobs, then those few were done on seniority, and once they had their pick, then the duties went out to the rest of the office.jinglejangle wrote:Georoute about to be implemented in our office. All the walks revised but its been voted not to have a repick. My fixed walk has been lost under Georoute.I understand walks are put up on the board based on seniority but is there any official priority for the first new walks that come up due to the fact I have lost mine through Georoute or is it tough sxxx.
Can someone let me know what the official stance is ? :cfo
Hope this helps.

I didn't think there was, but as RM are just doing what the want at the moment, it doesn't really make any difference. We had a shed load of hours taken out on the town deliveries last time, there isn't really much scope left there.johnnypick wrote:

Of course we're losing the rest of our nights, and I do belive they will want to make some savings on those.
But what I was thinking about, is as we have very steep hills and not quite so steep hills, and really no flat walks, is to make them do like a survey/risk assement type thing on all the walks and then try and get the walking rate adapted , especially as that would make a difference to what type of trolley could be used, or how heavy the bag of mail can be.
This could then also be used for our rural walks, and as they are generally bigger than 3.5hrs.
I'll have to keep a close eye on here and see what others find out or use to their advantage.

The union must make the call rates at least 90%, if not higher.lovenotmoney wrote:Union is very close to an agreement on georoute that is why they have trained up area delivery reps and are in the process of training unit reps. The last time I was briefed, the CWU were supposed to have agreed in principle a call rate of 93%.trythat wrote:The union must make the call rates at least 90%, if not higher.lovenotmoney wrote:Union is very close to an agreement on georoute that is why they have trained up area delivery reps and are in the process of training unit reps.
