Usually won't be a rural delivery.
Will never be a delivery that has been targeted with RFID chip letters.
Often will be a walk close to the DO.
Will usually be one of two P&L walks on a housing estate.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

At our office it seems to be either an HCT duty lapsed where it's very difficult to park or in the opposite direction across town to the rural duty you're on.

No criteria. Just like everything else, a shambles. Royal Mail DO s are like franchises where the management own the office.

They lapse any duties at any time and place. They lapse when they say it's not busy or when it is busy and theres no cover...I do see lapsing as a big con. If you aren't that busy what's the point in trying to finish early if you're going to be hit with more work???
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Lapsing has very little to do with 'working all your paid hours' and more to do with cost cutting and bonuses.
