The people who do the LATs in my office say that a surprisingly high percentage aren't in fact delivered first time, which is far from the picture painted by Royal Mail of recipients practically wetting themselves in anticipation of next day delivery when they order stuff at 11pm the previous night.

Re: list of LAT offices
Clearly different areas are doing different things. Ive been doing LAT's since i started in November and i was told from day one to just use 739 cards. I go to the MC each day at 10.30 collect the LAT's and scan them into a dedicated route starting from the MC and with a penultimate destination being the DO. Often I mix in large/oversized and packets in with the LAT's depending on LAT volume for that day.
Interestingly the DO im covering is not on the list above? Nor is the DO that was doing them before the LAT's got moved over to the DO im working from.

Re: list of LAT offices
Having done LAT's solidly for almost 3 months now (sometimes 7 days a week) in my experience well over 85% + of them are able to be delivered first time. I too am surprised just how many people are home to receive the items on weekdays.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑26 Jan 2022, 19:52When I work in our SD locker, you sometimes see notes on items saying don't deliver on a Saturday and then they go and use SD which most DOs will attempt all SDs unless there's an official retention in placeLockardian wrote: ↑26 Jan 2022, 17:43A surprising amount of the Sunday deliveries are labelled “Collect at PO”, and unless that PO is open Sunday they are gonna go nowhere until Monday!Ozzvaldo wrote: ↑15 Apr 2019, 17:59This is what happens in my office.broughts wrote:i can only say what happens in our office any packets not delivered come back to office and go out tomorrow or rest go into mail Centre for distribution to other dely offices

Re: list of LAT offices
Can anyone explain what a LAT duty involves, or what “LAT” items are? I’m familiar with the fact that Sunday deliveries are made from LAT offices which act as hubs for several DOs as not all DOs are open on Sundays. But what items would be sent via LAT offices through the week?

Re: list of LAT offices
LAT are tracked parcels arriving into an office after the core delivery has gone out.
They will cover several offices near to the LAT office and are usually delivered roughly between 2pm-7pm although it does vary from office to office.

Re: list of LAT offices
Our Hub DO can longer deliver LAT parcels on a daily basis. Therefore these Parcels come to our unit at around 11AM and are left in york to be delivered the next day. This has been happening for 3/4 months now.
I hear other neighbouring units are having same issues, so LAT product Mon-Sat is failing - every day.
What is the actual point?

Re: list of LAT offices
Why do RM even offer this service to customers, it must be a loss leader when we're employing an OPG to deliver just 40/50 parcels a day at most. Most of the items delivered seem to be Moonpig, Boots & contact lens, hardly items which can't wait half a day longer to be delivered.CharlesG wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 16:22Our Hub DO can longer deliver LAT parcels on a daily basis. Re: list of LAT offices
Having seen the sheer volume of LATs I'm glad they aren't rolled over! Most Sundays there are 8 of us delivering 70-100 each, or attempting to... Weekdays it can be anything from 20-50 but most get taken as overtime (I recently got 4 hours for 24 LATs, home half hour after time.)
Though 80 odd extra parcels across several routes doesn't sound much, you'd be surprised how heavily it weighs toward just a few... Of the 93 I took the last Sunday I worked, 29 were for one route, and 16 were in another.

Re: list of LAT offices
i wasn't really referring to Sunday deliveries, which make sense given the high volumes, it's the afternoon LAT's I can't see make economic sense.Kenfandango wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 21:49Having seen the sheer volume of LATs I'm glad they aren't rolled over! Wonder if RM might eventually re-jig final dispatch times from MCs to DOs to be later, to allow the LAT stuff to make final dispatches and get delivered along with everything elseCharlesG wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 16:22Our Hub DO can longer deliver LAT parcels on a daily basis. Re: list of LAT offices
Doubt else posties wouldnt be getting out until 1pm, which during winter wouldnt be remotely workable.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 07:27Wonder if RM might eventually re-jig final dispatch times from MCs to DOs to be later, to allow the LAT stuff to make final dispatches and get delivered along with everything elseCharlesG wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 16:22Our Hub DO can longer deliver LAT parcels on a daily basis. Locally I believe that most of the LAT stuff arrives in time for the final dispatches anyway. Any that does so will get sorted to the DO it's proper to and not the hubs2yearpostie wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 10:03Doubt else posties wouldnt be getting out until 1pm, which during winter wouldnt be remotely workable.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 07:27Wonder if RM might eventually re-jig final dispatch times from MCs to DOs to be later, to allow the LAT stuff to make final dispatches and get delivered along with everything elseCharlesG wrote: ↑13 Apr 2022, 16:22Our Hub DO can longer deliver LAT parcels on a daily basis. Re: list of LAT offices
LATs and afternoon deliveries are only going to grow.
People want next day delivery and the ability to order in the evening.
Why are you so obsessed with DOs getting their stuff later SP, it pops up in almost every comment you make.

Re: list of LAT offices
Like it or not, it's going to happen. The work is slowly arriving at MCs later, so processed later and will eventually get sent out to DOs later. I can see it happening anyway as RM would save a load of money from then not having to pay so much in allowancesWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑15 Apr 2022, 12:08LATs and afternoon deliveries are only going to grow.
