It was more likely he was sacked for his careless driving than for some spurious claim that he started at the incorrect time.tommyrep wrote:So what happened to the manager for allowing him ( and many other I suspect! ) to leave early?Yamr1 wrote:In a office I know of,

And the next day investigating team came in.
Postman has been dismissed starting before his correct time and not supposed to be out the office before his correct time.
Insurance and local agreement
If the guy has broken the rules and contravened RM procedures, why has this case not been highlighted nationally.
It's always been a one way street with delivery DOMs, so long as nothing happens untoward all is fine, if any s**t hits the fan watch them all dive for cover. Normally the area bosses do their utmost to protect them, unfortunately any corner cutting discrepancies by an OPG are upheld. Too many take unnecessary chances be it doorstepping or signing for recorders etc, only to be disciplined at best, or sacked. Ah, the lure of getting finished before time, an obsession held by the many not the few!

RE: insurance on vans
You say if your out before your time your not insured should something happen. What happens if your out after your time (ie overtime, not finishing on time etc), Also what about the times you get asked to take a van into the garage at 6 in a morning, or if you need to fetch your own mech because theres an issue with the truck delivering,or your told to go to a different office and take a company van etc.
If your insured for the above situations they cant say your not insured to go out on your round a little bit early can they.

This insurance stuff is nonsense, you're either insured or you ain't. You don't have insurance at different times of day ect. It's nonsense people trot out to stop people coming in early. As somebody else has pointed out, my start time depends on different things. They have me in early to run vans to the workshop, do 9ams ect. Some days I start later. People shouldn't come in early because you're a mug, nothing to do with insurance.

If you ever suspect that your DOM is Bullshitting you.... with something like this Insurance Claim...... simply ask him to show you the relevant document. I'm sure it's all there on his little lap top somewhere. These idiots must get half their moronic excuses from either "The Little Book of Manager's Bullshit" or they pick them up from other DOMs during meetings.
