It depends on the Mail Centre, managers and the mail centre manager.
At my mail centre, part-time jobs were posted externally so anybody could apply.
Several Angard workers have got jobs but anybody who missed out faces a grim future shift wise.
The jobs coincide with a realignment so the jobs will fill gaps in the realignment
This means much less shifts for Angard across the mail centre - I am expecting to drop to 1 shift a week max.
I'm told that any Angard shifts will be irregular and likely no shifts available in mornings or evenings.
The realignment and jobs are intended to remove the need for as much Angard staff as possible - to reduce costs and "improve" efficency
So changes are being made but not in favour of remaining Angard.
Pretty grim really :(

There's 120 at mine. Was in last night (and got another shift tonight) for the first time in a couple of weeks and saw some new faces. At about 3am the gaffer rounded us up to complain about poor performance the previous week, with apparently complaints about 8 individuals being made to Angard. Had an interview for a one day a week shift at Yodel (pay's not great but it's local and a guaranteed shift) last week and the interviewer told me they're trying to recruit more 'core' staff now as they're finding agency workers so unreliable. Doesn't seem all that surprising to me, no excuse for folk taking the mick but you see and hear stories about people being mucked around and it hardly encourages loyalty and dedication.NW11851 wrote:During a recent conversation with an Angard Manager, it was key slip that their text messages go out to 200 staff for my MC.
Whether thay is their total pool of staff, I don’t know.
I do know that they continue to recruit new staff

I actually found out how many is based at my MCM throughout all shifts in the total pool and it knocked me off my feet. OVER FOUR HUNDRED! In the same email I received from the departing consultant, they stated that of those 400, 300ish of them had 0-1 shift in that whole week (I had 2 personally so already in the most active 100 which is still a lot of people).26l34 wrote:There's 120 at mine. So I'm wondering:
- How many of those are no longer wanting shifts but didnt cancel their angard contract?
- How many of the 400 have achieved AWR?
- How many fail to get a shift when they get a text to call in but called in too late then give up until the next text?
Obviously I will never get THOSE answers but it is interesting to theorise just how much of the work goes to Angard Agents rather than hiring new OPGs from the experienced Angard pool. (I will forever say I am an Agent instead of Casual as I do not work casually! I am professional!
Royal Mail OPG at an MC since 2022.

I know the guys at RM don’t like angency workers so much and I understand that completely .... but, I have tried getting into a mail sorter role at the Sheffield MC since last year.
I went for the “interview” passed all the police checks etc and even got an ID badge .... all ready to start work. This was all in October last year.
I’ve been ringing Angard every week trying to get in but this week they finally tell me that I have to reapply and do it all over again because it’s been longer than 3 months without work.
I am beyond disappointed .... but maybe the positive is that you people might not need to worry too much anymore about too many agency workers as Angard are clearly not making an effort anymore with getting people work.
