April 2019 pay rise

Nothing is guaranteed in life - you should know that. I believe it is dependent on things like the crazy ideas from the delivery methods trials being fully implemented. Given that we already knew as the workforce that those planned changes would make the job take longer to do then logic would suggest those delivery method changes will not happen. Time has to be saved for more hours of SWW to be implemented - you can only pour one pint of beer into a pint glass. The CWU are continuing to stand in the way of more mechanisation in MCs. So we are pretty much at the point the table turns & RM have to start investing in the business properly.

Says who?
How exactly could the CWU do that?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

That's what we have been told is happening. The CWUs top priority is its members and their jobs so increased automation and mechanisation is likely to result in redundancies or job losses. The union is trying to prevent that happening.

Over the past 15/20 years we have lost 60 to 80 000 jobs due to automation and the closure of about 20 mail centres.
When there is a business case for automation then it happens. The CWU can't and hasn't prevented that.
Unless you are being told RM has bought the machines and the staff are throwing their clogs at them?

I'm just passing on what I've been told by our DOM. It's good news that the delivery methods trials have failed and been dropped anyway. We don't get much good news nowadays.

Of course, the DOM doesn't have an agenda and isn't trying to weaken the influence of the Union by alienating its potential supporters. Nah that couldn't be happening, could it.
