Would probably make the 35 hour week the union wants achievable but I'm guessing it would only really work and make sense money wise if the number of full timers in an office was quite small
Thats what we started 6 months ago.its a night mare.6 full timers start at 5.30,sort and bundle mail for about 15 rounds drop it off for the rest of us to do delivery only whist they do about an hr and half delivery and are home for 1 o clock.thing is the delivery only rounds are well over the hrs allocated to them.some of us are still out at 6 at nate time.

I really can’t see how they can afford to pay us the same wage for 35 hours, nearly everybody except the few runners in my office is going over on heavy days already and booking it, with an hour reduction that’s more OT, another 3 off, that’s more OT. And more and more parcels. Reduction in letters really isn’t going to save 3-4 hours a week.

What’s royal mail’s secret plan?
You'd will soon be delivering ALL of parcel force work. They are going to bring in GLS as a low cost unit, ie all self employed drivers, with GLS doing the bigger parcels like business and posties doing all internet and store work. I said this about a year ago and was told that it wouldn't happen. Well now we have the ex boss of GLS as top dog in RM. Then the walks will be franchised off and there will be no more sick pay or contributions for pensions as your will all be self employed. The mail centres are mostly run with casual staff as it is. The job is well and truly tucked and it you think that I'm far off the mark well it's not me that's delusional. Sorry. :evil/mad

And how will that work when most DOs are understaffed and walks are already too big as it is? What about letters and flats? What about SDs and Tracked?

Can you provide any proof to back that assertion up?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

We were told this years ago and know for a fact that our DO was sold off and immediately leased back. This is teamed up with a background threat of moving our walks/jobs to another nearby larger DO. I think the current lease lasts for another four years so we are safe for the time being. I think except for a few large sites in London all RM property was sold and leased back. A really bad decision and not something any wise business would do.

hmm really? You spoken to parcel force guys recently? They have had a huge increase in workload after winning contracts amongth some huge firms such as screw fix. You saying they are going to get rid of parceforce, really?
