No - it simply means people are paid overtime for coming in earlier than their contracted start time.Celgar wrote: 'Flex up'. We don't have that in our DO but I have heard it mentioned before. Is that where you do work unpaid and then get paid extra at a later date??

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Allegedly, PT staff only get their pay rise when the FT staff in the same depot start their shorter working week... So a delayed pay increase for PT staff who work in a depot/area where the union have gone to disagreement about how the first hour is removed for FT staff.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:gary1975 wrote:I get a pay rise![]()

How do you think payroll will manage to pay people different hourly rates?IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Allegedly, PT staff only get their pay rise when the FT staff in the same depot start their shorter working week... Celgar wrote:If you haven't been told already it will more than likely be twelve minutes later starting time every day. That is the default option. You may be in an area where the area rep is pushing to have time taken off the end of the duty. RM isn't having that so then there will be a delay at your office until RM pushes it through
On the subject of less time to do the same or more work I agree that is the obvious result and the CWU haven't really explained that part of their pet project. RM will add more hours into DOs etc to cover or help cover the shortfall. I think we will be getting an additional one hour early IPS SA for one person. Larger DOs would obviously get more hours per day.
Why on earth would a union man be trying to get the 12 mins of at the end of a duty when that will more than likely come from your (MADE) time. Sack that, from the start of the duty it should be from. Even better an hour on saturday, then at the end would be ok. Getting your cake and eating it does come to mind but is that not the one of the reasons we all joined the union? To have more progressive working conditions is the main reason to have a union, and not to let managers, especially inept ones, run amok.

Ah, is that when people on easy deliveries come in and get an hr docket for coming in an hr early, then get an hr flyer on their own duty. This is common practice and cost the business no end. Joke really.clashcityrocker wrote:No - it simply means people are paid overtime for coming in earlier than their contracted start time.Celgar wrote: 'Flex up'. I was told by my union rep a while ago that RM would NOT take the time off the end!.
But yesterday it was announced that we would all have later start times in our office, except the our union rep and 1 other man who would get it taken off the end.
The reason was given very quickly as something like "necessary operations" or something like that.
It would seem that yet again our rep is not subject to the same rules as the rest us.
He does collections all week, but on Saturdays we have a collections. We have to get the collections back to him by 1:30 so he can deliver them and get back by 2 (his finish time). My finish time is 2:15, so how can I get back by 1:30?. And now I have to start 12 mins later and he finishes 12 mins earlier.
Does this sound like necessary operations to you ?.
If anything he needs a later finish time to bring him in line with the rest of us.

You sound very bitter. Maybe, just maybe it’s to do with his duty and nothing to do with being a union rep.fisherkinguk wrote:I was told by my union rep a while ago that RM would NOT take the time off the end!.

As I said, he already has early finish on Saturdays. This causes a problem for me to get the mail back in time for him. I have already complained about this, as it needs to be sorted.
This just makes it even worse, and since the rep is the one in the office discussing with manager how best to remove the hour from our working week it seems rather odd how things have worked out for him.
I will be asking why the 12 mins has come off the end of his round.
