They know if the pda has been turned off or battery removed, especially if you do it every day.Questions will be asked.number one wrote:Have you seen how the pda actuals actually works? No they don’t, if you log off when out on delivery before you get back to the office it shows as returning to the office at 18:00 as default. Your office will have a waypoint of around 10m around the office, it only registers the time you get back if you leave it logged in when you arrive back into the office. I’ve seen it done.2pints wrote:They know if the pda has been turned off or battery removed, especially if you do it every day.Questions will be asked.number one wrote:Have you seen how the pda actuals actually works? I would imagine most walks have a postbox on them so those posties will have to do the new scan at the office when they return. This as well as filling in the signing in sheets properly show when you are returning from delivery. Trying to play the system will eventually backfire on you. Doing the job properly will invariably prove that your walk is the correct length and probably longer than than your duty time.

got back to the delivery office and it was shut
Cue mail left in the van and no scanning of pda back into the office.
Don't know what happens when you go over and the DOM goes home before you get back

Ha!! As I’ve said before you really couldn’t make this stuff up could you, what an outfit this has become, with the basic fundamentals of having enough time to complete your round and the fantasy that mail you collect actually goes somewhere to be processed the same day!!miss management once again at its finestpostietom wrote:Book in the morning.eastie wrote:got back to the delivery office and it was shut

This happens fairly frequently on a Saturday in my office with either rurals or shared vans that don't have regular staff on them. It's 70 miles to our MC, so no tootling off to it with the collections.SpacePhoenix wrote:How far away to the nearest MC?eastie wrote:got back to the delivery office and it was shut

Yeah but if they look at the actuals they can see where you were and at what time, the last time your pda transmitted. It's very accurate. You can see exactly where you or your pda, is ,to the minute, at any time. There's no hiding. Trouble is, they'll use it to catch people out rather than balance walks, as we all know.number one wrote:No they don’t, if you log off when out on delivery before you get back to the office it shows as returning to the office at 18:00 as default.
