Come out the woodwork you branches voting yes

If the concept of this thread is to flush out YES voters and then attack them, then this forum can hardly run a poll of those voting YES or NO and expect to get results that even bear a resemblance to how things really are out there. It also seems to fly in the face of the message put out by Postman concerning conduct on the site. It seems pointless to me if its not upheld. Heck, I'm not accepting the pay deal, but if there was a good reason to vote YES (and I've yet to find one) - this site is a good advert for doing it. The last thing we need to be doing in an effort to keep our centre in the city is to down tools! That really WOULD gain us support.

We aren't all hostile you know! There are a lot of us, who genuinely want to see alternative points of view.

There are people from both Camps, who are hostile to people who think differently. Just look in the Voting Poll Comments, and you'll see what I mean. There are also some Customers who have been very hostile too.

What we really need, is a reasoned debate. So far, the only person to put a reasoned case for a yes vote forward, has been Lovejoy. It would be useful to see what reasons, other people have for voting that way.

Just because I, and many of my Collegues are planning to give a resounding NO. Doesn't mean that others aren't entitled to hold a different opinion! A Union is after all a Democracy. And therefore, EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion. Everyone must vote whichever way their Concience tells them to.

There are some, who for whatever reason, haven't read the deal for themselves. They are instead, relying on recommendations, and breakdowns of it. That is why there is so much interest in what each Branch is going to recommend to the Membership.

We must encourage everyone to READ THE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY, and then debate the deal in a Forum such as this. That way, we can make a more informed decision. Particularly, as RM are assuming that the deal will come in, and are already trying to implement it.

Insults are not the way to win a debate. We should all take each other's opinions into account. When we find a view which we don't agree with, we should explain WHY we disagree. Not swap insults.

I admit, that I have been guilty of loosing my temper at times. We all do. Particularly when there is so much at stake. But why try to frighten others away because of their opinions?
Surely we can win a NO vote, purely by explaining the problems with the deal, and the consequences of giving in to it.

I've been told that West London Postal are recommending "YES", but my conscience will dictate how I will vote, not the branch.

south wales will be a big yes to accept.

the strike was supported but was patchy in some areas and was on the brink of total collapse in others !

S.E. Wales Amal recommend a NO vote. It was one of the best supported areas for industrial action in the country.

Some branches are RECOMMENDING a "YES" vote, some a "NO" vote. My branch is recommending a "YES" vote, our unit rep's a "NO" voter and
certainly won't be encouraging/supporting the "YES" campaign.

Whatever a branch recommends, doesn't mean the vote is cut and dried in that area.

If you are looking at 70ish branches. 20-25 going No that still means the majority going YES? It will make a big difference how good branches comms are locally!

The national union will pump out propaganda. If local branches simply send out a few posters etc that won't be good enough. There will need to be meetings , home letters etc
