Pidleypoo wrote:Not saying it's not a good idea for the business but as with everything else we need the time built in properly for it.in my view what will happen is they will say it takes no extra time dispose is scanning an extra 60-100 parcels more a day than we scan now and then they will wonder why more are claiming or cutting off. My question is does anybody think this will take less time
If the item will go through the letter box then scanning it takes seconds. An extra 60 scans would add approx. 3 minutes.
If they need to come to the door for the packet, then you have time to scan it anyway.
I have been scanning everything all week. It isn't a big deal.
So it's you who has the PDA that works then!

Yeah, it's gonna add barely any time on, PDA allowing of course.

I've heard that the new PDAs are supposed to have cameras on them? Not sure if that idea was scrapped?

But is it just parcels we scan or is it large letters as well as these also have 2d barcodes?

We had a briefing about it this morning, I decided to just start scanning today. I assume it isn't required to write out the huge number attached to the bar code when leaving a P739?

Anything with a scannable bar code gets scanned.

I think people who deliver to firms will find it takes a lot longer.
Where before you could just put everything in a sack and hand it over, you will now need to check everything before delivery.

As always, you have a start and finish time. If you find you ain't got enough time, cut off. Simple.

The 1D barcodes are the normal ones, the 2D barcodes are the square ones

Your Super 8 video camera you keep in your bag, don't you have one!? I think the new PDAs are supposed to have cameras though, mainly for taking pictures of parcels you leave in safeplaces, but I'm not sure if that was scrapped or not

No, you'll be expected to colour in a grid on the p739 to duplicate the 2d barcode! I wouldn't be surprised if some World Class Mail genius mentions adding a Colour in the Blanks grid to the p739 card so we can duplicate the 2d barcode on the packet....

No it isn't, it's just parcels with a bar code, not large letters.
