I'm afraid I'm going to have to burst your bubble.

This office once had three such posties - though not 30 hours. There is now just a single out postie. The mail is delivered to the door and the postie delivers it. Never comes to the office or delivers a registered - the weekly drop is less than a single delivery. Although I thought the practice was going out it seems it is coming back in.

As a matter of interest what would happen on a resign?
Don't worry my bubble is intact :chuckle The OP said his DUM told him it was common place, so far only a few offices seem to have it, so its not common place. I cant understand how a Rep would let this practice start.
Actually this postie has been employed for more than 20 years - longer than me and the Rep who has been here for about 24 years - so it has stood the test of many managers and is still going. I have had 5 or six resigns and it has never been in the running because of the low hours - I think it is 12 per week, though I could stand to be corrected on that.
