Doubt there's any danger of not delivering on a Saturday. Some mail is carefully selected to be delivered on a Saturday, Matalans crap for example. They're under the deluded impression that people will take longer to read junk mail instead of throwing it straight in the bin on a Saturday.
Besides, having a life outside of work isn't part of the grand plan royal mule has for us. Soon they'll want us to sign the same sort of agreement you sign when you join the foreign legion.

i believe that it only is a matter of time before the Mon-Fri delivers come in, its a way for Rm to make a massive saving & cutting costs, which means more job losses, think about it no more rotates....... perhaps a year or two, but rest assured its on RMs radar

Wild Cat wrote:I can't understand why anyone would want a 5 o'clock start on saturdays and 6.15 for the rest of the week.

I don't miss the 5.00 start as what other industry starts at this time of the morning? and I believe that it has a damaging effect on long term health as we are not meant to get up in the middle of the night.

The rich and the politicians would never get out of bed for a 5 o'clock start and their life expectancy is much higher than ours so why should we if we don't have to?
I have been getting up at 5am for 24 years and the 6.15 is killing me. I still wake up at about 4.30ish. My afternoon is ruined.
Bollocks to 6.15 starts.
I support a football team as do a lot of postman. 25% in our office have season tickets for the various clubs we follow what do you want us to do?

Our DOM has agreed a 5.30am start on saturdays ( locally as far as i know) instead of the current 6am mon to fri attendance... This is due to pressure and comments made by lots of footy fans in our office :Applause He couldn't really say no as he is a season ticket holder himself

We had a show of hands vote this morning to see if we wanted a 5am start or 6.15am, it appeared to be an overwhelming majority for the 6.15 start, everyone thinks we will eventually get stitched up on the 5am with more sorting etc, with the later start no one will be back in time to take out un-covered walks, hopefully that will get the vacant duties filled.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Our DUM plays with his toy trains, and the rep is an armchair football fan. No chance of our office changing back since the piss-heads and piss poor parents are happy with the later starts.

From monday our weekday hours change to a 6am start from a 6.15 start and on saturday we will start at 5.30am instead of 6.15. Makes me wonder if this network 2007 is a load of shite seeing as they can change our hours just like that. Unless of course it doesnt matter how fast the vans drive on a weekend :no no
