The amount of unfranked mail at my MC has shot up in the last year.

Some try to cancel all they can - many don't bother ie it's someone else's problem !

Sometimes you don't have time because of tie-down/despatch.

Not enough people to handstamp. Where once two people handstamped there will now be one. One person may now have to cancel the stamps that three people used to do sometimes. At Bristol MC handstamping usually ends at 8pm to 8.30pm so everything from then on up to 10pm is uncanceled. Some people don't bother to cancel any stamp from 6pm to avoid too much of a backlog on their table. Started years ago when scales were removed to stop people wasting time. Didn't talk to us about it, just took them away.

Portsmouth [as was, now shut for primary  ].We had lots of diverts from BH/DT/SO/CH [bizzarrely], many unfranked but a / in marker pen through stamp. Were told to ignore & sort it.

By way, anyone from Huddersfield? What do the people not sorting RTSs do of a day?

We do not have the resources to do this along with the fact that management don't seem to bother if the work is cancelled or not as long as it gets out the door.

The Ever Increasing ammount of Un-Franked Mail!

That is truly shocking! I get a bit Anal about unfranked stamps and can truly say, "No Unfranked stamps knowingly delivered"! I won't deliver for FREE :thumbdown

The latest twist to the story is is that if you can identify re-used stamps (i.e Stamp with obviously different coloured backing to the envelope) we return it to the locker and the PHG fills in a Revenue Protection Card (You've got £1.60 to pay) and puts it back in the IPS. :thumbup

I can imagine a few irate phone calls between receiver and sender! But Royal Mail really need to sort this E Bay problen. Surely the IB could pursue these people for Fraud? :hmmmm

Our rev pro don't even charge them sometimes ! There was a court case few yrs back where RM took a company to court for reusing stamps and RM lost ! As we have the felicity to cancel them and didn't ... Shocking !!
