Re: ARE WE COPING
We're coping but the overtime bill must be through the roof. 2hrs OT on a full-time duty is quite normal at the minute. Not everyone does the OT obviously but there are a few spare bodies to pick up the leftovers each day. Bizarrely, the office is clearer now each day than it was during summer lapsing!

Must be folk rushing out on delivery. I got one of those "misdelivery reminder cards" posted through my letter box along with my post today!

Overtime is flowing in our office at the moment. 1200 tracked items into the office today. Nearly running out of space to store packets brought back though.

Re: ARE WE COPING
Our SPDO isn't, 3 f/t staff with a walk each and 2 p/t walks to throw in too, not a chance we are getting anything done
All we are doing is the sequence mail and tracked packets now, the rest is stock piling up in the kitchen and bathroom

Extra staff are needed on delivery, because the whole point of RM is to deliver things to people. But we don't get any, so we fail constantly.SpacePhoenix wrote:The extra staff are needed in a MC because things would quickly grind to a halt as we'd run out of spaceOnAFlyer wrote:Packets left in for days in our office, they've had people in Sunday and today the office was pretty much clear. No doubt it all goes tits up again tomorrow when it's busy again. It's been a bit of a joke, some days we've had the drivers to clear but no vans for them - in general though we've been understaffed and struggling, yet the MC's get a ton of extra staff as usual.holly123 wrote:Just wondering if any offices are struggling to cope at the moment or have the management got in right this year ?

Is this a wind up? Our pair of walks today had a full cage of tracked, a full cage of other van packets and 7 packet bags. We had to cut off 6 loops and a full cage of packets. We've completed once in the last month.windermeredave wrote:Very quiet start to pressure here, hardly any difference in packet volumes. loads of tracks though. surely we will get hit big time pretty soon.
ps. not based in Windermere, it`s a reference to a part of my hometown

Everyone's been finishing about 2 hours over time most days. We can't do it everyday as I usually cut off when my partner needs to finish for the school run some days. It's always covered though.
We've got people going out now at 7am with the oversized packets from the first wave so it helps a bit doing that.

Re: ARE WE COPING
"Just take the tracked" we are told - but they tend to be 90% of the large parcels anyway - we go over and we leave in ... Lino says "How can you leave in and go over ???" Bleeding obvious innit (spose we could leave more in but ... lino will then have to get his big satchel out and do something for a change lol.)
Everyone wobbles on about large packets - but there is a HUGE increase in small packets - which means more attendance calls - which means more P739s which means more time ...
Our other problem is the extra packet drivers they give us - don't have PDAs cus we're short of same !!!
Never mind - Moya says we're all prepared - so it MUST be true ..........................

Re: ARE WE COPING
Try suggesting to the DOM that you send your Reserve/Parcel Drivers out early for a few hours while those vans are available. We do that and at least you get get a load of parcels delivered on the walks that are near the office.dave72 wrote:

Phg locker staff are some of the most stressed out busy members of our office this time of year. Don't know what yours do or what you think they do. Maybe you should have a go.In The Know wrote:2 phgs instead of 1 in our office over xmas. So that's 2 people doing sweet fa tucking into the celabrations instead of 1

Re: ARE WE COPING
Exactly. What is the point of supplying extra staff to MC's to ensure the stuff gets processed and sent on to DO's in time.... to then not provide adequate staffing levels in DO's to ensure the mail/parcels actually make it to their destination in as timely a manner?OnAFlyer wrote:Extra staff are needed on delivery, because the whole point of RM is to deliver things to people.
