So In my office, a full timer (on someone close to full time) Will come in at around 6 or 7, do several hours of indoor work (which is physically easy), leave our office between 9 and 10, lets say 9 so examples sake. go out on delivery, normal day get back between 1 and 2, so they are out walking 4 to 5 hours a day (The hardest part)

A part timer doing overtime to boost their hours up to full time, will come in around half 7 or half 8, do an hour or two of indoor work, and then do a delivery ( 4 to 5 hours) AND then do their OT, Which would be more time on delivery, sometimes 3 or more extra hours a day out walking.

So to sum up, Part timers doing full time hours, are spending alot more time out on delivery, which is alot more taxing and laborious. Yet we still get paid the same as a full timer. Dont get me wrong, im happy to get the OT and I know I can turn it down, but I just feel its a bit unfair on us Part timers, not to mention the other ways we get shafted.

What you're talking about is not Part Timers doing Full Time hours. You're talking Part Timer doing overtime. There's a difference. If you're Part Time and doing Full Time hours, you start at the time a Full Timer does, with the same amount of indoor work.
You're not getting s**t on; you've just to work harder to match the Full Time wage.

So if you want a bigger wage, with less outdoor, then you really need to push for indoor OT. Considering OT is voluntary, it's best not to think of it as a harder time.
There's no real unfairness. It's just unfortunate you're a PTer when you'd clearly like to be FT. It'd be great if they would make everyone willing, up to FT, but we know they won't. So really it's the same as anywhere else - you want OT, here it is, take it or leave it. Before the company went tits up, it was that people were having to complain that no OT was being thrown their way, as it was being doled out to the favourites. That was unfair.

Its not just some of the part timers that come in & work some days whilst they are on annual leave but also some full timers. 1 full time bloke takes a weeks annual leave then comes in anyway & works monday to sat!!!! Obviously he needs the money & mayb he doesn't want somebody doing his round & proving that it needs more calls adding on it?!
As for our rep, waste of time asking him to look into the p/t contract situation.....

We've just gone through our 3rd since 2010, but this time we made sure we included everything we could e.g. CoD, DTN, extra tracked, taking vans to garage, proper packet counts (for the whole week, not just on a Tuesday) etc, and it looks as though all our PT will be able to increase their hours, true not all up to FT, but we also made duties for 35 hours as well.

As others have said, if you have PT doing FT hours week after week, then use the 6 month process, make sure rep has the weekly Resource meetings, so they can have it in the notes - that again PT staff are having to backfill, it's all grist, also if you have management doing lots of opg work, start logging it and use that as well, and get rep to check on any unfilled vacancies.

It's not easy, but if your rep can persevere and get your area rep involved as well, you have a good chance to get what you think is due to your office.
One big flaw in that in our office at least, when a full timer leaves or gets sacked a part timer gets put on his round on his hours, the job is not advertised so a more senior part timer cannot pick it or go on it,3 of the managers favourites have had this happen to them and they have been on full time hours for over 2 years, now explain to me why these people are entitled to permanent full time contracts when a more senior part timer who doesn't get overtime opportunities has to stay on his 25 or 30 hour contract?,the REP has been told about this situation but nothing has been done,I've never worked for such a sh1te firm.

this doesn't sound right, A/L is for the days you are due to attend 1 day, 2 days , 3 days etc. The other days you are not due to attend so do not need A/L to cover your absence. If i were you i'd write to the local rep now copy in the area, and if you are not happy with the responce write to the area rep commenting on your responce from the local rep.
I've had experiance of this twice, once when i was a reserve when the duty holder of the duty i was to cover turned up for o/t in the morning. i spoke to the bookroom to see if there was an error and, no there wasn't so the holder was sent home and was not allowed to book the time they had put in either. On the second occasion someone had booked a day off (tuesday for eg) and came in and did o/t before their duty started (tuesday morning), there was a massive uproar. We were informed that they were taking a day off of work which meant 24 hours off of work which could either start from the end of their duty on monday to the end of their duty tuesday or from the start of their duty tuesday to start of their duty Wednesday.
Point is though from the two examples you're off for a day or a week or anywhere inbetween you should not be allowed to attend work at RM, yes sign for an agency or work for your mate but you should not be permitted to attend as you are on A/L.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

It's not fair!, we've had DOMs try this and we make sure duties go up for pick, Like I say, you use the agreements, get ADR involved and email DSMs to get these things sorted. Like others have said, it's not easy, but you need to get the rep working or chose another, you can't have it all ways, either have members step up, perhaps have a committee or accept the status quo and just get on with life.

It's a Catch 22. The most effective way to get an increase in contracted hours is for ALL the part timers in your DO to only work their contracted hours. I do realise that it's not always possible since a lot of PT ers rely on the overtime to boost up their wages. RM abuse this.

I completely disagree with the first post.
Im a part time reserve on a 24hr contract although I probably do 35/36hrs a week which is close to full time. My hours should be 8.30-2.30 over 4 days but I work 7.15-2.30 over 5 days (one day is a paid day out). I prep 7.15-9.30 and then we are out on delivery til 2.15 and then I go home. I NEVER work over. Odd times i'll come in at 6am and if I wanted to I could come in at 6 every morning and do 40hrs a week but I choose to have an hour extra in bed.
I walk the same amount of time as a full timer.

If you walk the same amount as a full timer then you missed the point of the post.....
