No, many out there will be at a loss for something to do on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th and will welcome being able to peruse a 2015 holiday brochure.

Sorry to be blunt - But its a working day and we are being paid for it. There are plenty of people who work Christmas Day and don't get anything extra for doing so. Its hardly going to be a hardship going into work for 8 hours, we'll probably be offered mince pies and shots as we deliver the late gifts.

Yes, but most of those "plenty of people" who work Christmas Day are sad so and sos who live to work not, like the great majority of us on here, work to live .

RM will not want to set a precedent. This issue is no different to working the Sat. between Good Friday and Easter Monday in reality - we don't hear people bleating about that one, do we? Perhaps people should focus on the two days they DO get off than the one they don't....

We don't hear people 'bleating' about working the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Monday but there's been many a comment about working either Friday or Monday instead of Saturday to get three consecutive days off at Easter.

Yes, fair enough. Unfortunately that would arise in all sorts of complications regarding BH hours/pay days-in-lieu etc. Bearing in mind every month there seems to be some retrospective E-USSR court ruling on employment matters, if you were RM would you risk doing something today which could potentially come back on you tomorrow?
