Let's just go to a 3 day week and sack 60 000 people.
You know it makes sense.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Would it not make more sense to let mail build up and then do it at once. for example do a 3rd of a frame a day ( obviously deliver parcels and recordeds etc for all the frame?)

Now I understand the red tape behind this, people are paying for a service, but surly that is the future? it would save time and money for RM

Its not junk. None of it is .Its what keeps most of us in full time employment.Would You be happy committing wilful delay of mail?
Spot on, Scooby.

Just ignore whatever is written on the piece of paper and deliver it. Someone has paid us to deliver it so we should, regardless of the content.

It would be nice if we can manage our walks, but this wouldn't work on reserves who doesn't have their rounds plus we can't decide when to deliver it ie skip Saturday for example on bank holiday weekend. We are tied to 6 days a week delivery service :(

I'm sure this is exactly what they want for the future of RM.

and we might do this

Walk 1 and 2 delivery plus parcels, recorded and special for walk 3 and 4 with Van Share Partner on Day 1
Walk 3 and 4 delivery plus parcels, recorded and special for walk 1 and 2 with Van Share Partner on Day 2

Instead of absorbing. I predict this will happens in 3 years time.

0.25 for each D2D
3 for a Packet
4 for any special
3.5 tracked attendance type (signed or knockers) and foreign attendance
3 for a tracked no signature non attendance and foreign non attendance
2 for recorded plus points for type.

But - 50 for early starts
-100 for no meal breaks
-75 for runners/fence jumpers.

Report your scores tomorrow. :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle
What points will we get for these then?

Surcharge item: this must have "Bonus Points" too?
You sometimes have to explain what they need to do and also tell them that you don't need to knock when delivering these

P739 card: Also "Bonus Points" due to the time taken to go to a neighbours door etc.

What we deliver is not junk. Our posting customers make commercial decisions based on the cost of advertising and the return they get from it (in marketeers language they call it ROI - return on investment). They measure our services against other forms of advertising I.e. Newspapers, magazines,TV, radio, social media etc. Having decided to use mail, addressed or unaddressed they then choose who they want to deliver it. Addressed is pretty much us but there are loads of options for unaddressed deliveries - that's why we need yo make sure we give D2D the delivery service customers have pad for.

You sound like a manager, as your post has that certain tone to it. Are you? :hmmmm

im not a manager and I agree with ricks thinking. These companies are not fools, you see the same companies (mainly pizza) send out similar leaflets month in, month out. They must be getting some kind of return from them.

Like them or not, these help pay our wages, sure it would make our jobs easier if we didnt have to deliver them, and yes a lot of people dont want them, however it all adds to revenue.

whats best for RM profitability isnt necessarily whats best for postmen.
Sure your idea would be more cost effective, but also means much less people are employed. If you value your job or the job of your colleagues you do not want the RM to be able to do this.

If only RM would think supply and demand... pizza D2Ds are almost a "dead cert" every week, so charge them more and make more RM profit! This ain't rocket science, it is basic business practice. :cuppa

Isn't that the very definition of Supply and demand. I'll supply you, if you meet my monetary demands.

Unfortunately it can also mean that RM will only supply employment when there is a demand for it - they would love to be able to operate a "no work - no pay" arrangement and delivering the whole of a route on alternate days is heading in just the direction that they are hoping for !!!

Be careful what you wish for
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile
